Gateway Project Software Engineer (.NET) Location: Remote (U.S.-Based) Employment Type: Contract (12 months, possible extension) Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required Compensation: W2: $95,000-$105,000/year OR 1099: $55/hour Overview We are seeking a Gateway Project Software Engineer to support a high-priority application development initiative for a federal research environment. This role is part of a cross-functional Agile scrum team responsible for delivering a modern business application that integrates with multiple enterprise personnel systems. This is a hands-on engineering role-ideal for a mid-to-senior level .NET developer who thrives in clean code, strong collaboration, and structured Agile delivery. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain applications using C# and .NET 8+ Build front-end components using ASP.NET MVC, Razor views, and Bootstrap Develop and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases, stored procedures, and queries Design and implement RESTful APIs and integrate with external systems Write and maintain unit tests and automated integration/regression tests Collaborate closely with product owners, QA, and fellow engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Required Qualifications U.S. Citizenship (required - no exceptions) Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field 6+ years of professional software development experience Strong experience with: C# and .NET (8 or higher) ASP.NET MVC and Razor Microsoft SQL Server (2019+) RESTful API development Experience working on Agile development teams Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills Experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines Familiarity with Jira for Agile task tracking Experience with Entity Framework Core or Dapper Exposure to Azure cloud services (App Services, Functions, Storage, AKS) Experience with Docker or containerized deployments Test-driven development (TDD) experience Work Environment Fully remote (U.S.-based) Collaborative Agile team environment Contract role with potential extension based on project needs Why This Role High-visibility project with real business impact Modern .NET stack (not legacy maintenance) Clear scope, structured Agile delivery, and realistic expectations Competitive rates aligned to market Benefits: Medical (PPO/HDHP), Dental, Vision STD, LTD, Life & AD&D FSA and HSA options PTO, Holidays, Sick Leave (where applicable) 401(k) with employer match EAP and Discount Programs About CRI Advantage: CRI Advantage has delivered innovative IT and business solutions for more than 30 years, serving both private and public sector clients with technical excellence and a strong commitment to customer success.
