Senior Grant Project Director (Grant Funded) - North Campus

FUNCTION: The Senior Grant Project Director will oversee all aspects of the San Jacinto Community College District GEAR UP: Galena Park ISD Student Success Grant project, a seven-year, total $17 million federally funded initiative. This includes managing programming, budget, compliance, evaluation, and communication with internal and external partners, including the sub-recipient - Galena Park ISD, community organizations, and institutions of higher education. The Director serves as the primary point of contact for the grant and ensures alignment with federal regulations, institutional policies, and project goals.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Develop and monitor reporting instruments and dashboards for performance tracking
  • Prepare and submit internal and external grant reports
  • Manage and monitor the project budget, including federal compliance and institutional coordination
  • Oversee data collection and evaluation activities in collaboration with external evaluator and data coach
  • Build and maintain relationships with Galena Park ISD, UH-Downtown, and other partners
  • Ensure partner compliance with grant scope and deliverables
  • Supervise project staff and ensure effective delivery of services
  • Coordinate day-to-day operations to meet project milestones
  • Lead development and dissemination of project materials and communications
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with partners and stakeholders
  • Provide technical assistance for effective grant management, including the grant goals & activities, grant funds spending strategies, and data collection for the reporting to sub-recipient(s)
  • Perform the sub-recipient monitoring review/audit annually with OGM and complete the audit report. Follow up with the sub-recipient(s) and provide training or assistance to improve their performance as needed
  • Monitor and ensure $9 million cash match expense requirement. Work with OGM to track cash match expenses accurately and complete the cash match report


Additional Job Functions:



  • Represent the project at national, state, and local GEAR UP conferences
  • Establish and maintain an advisory committee with stakeholder representation
  • Collaborate with Office of Grants Management for financial compliance
  • Analyze quarterly and annual performance data for continuous improvement
  • Resolve instructional and training issues with internal and external stakeholders
  • Other duties assigned for the grant program

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Strong working knowledge of computing systems and software
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • Experience with federal grant compliance and reporting
  • Team player/leader; cooperative orientation
  • Project management, fiscal and narrative grant reporting; ability to conceptualize
  • Ability to manage complex budgets and multi-year funding
  • Efficient, detail oriented and self-started that can work with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance evaluation
  • Deadline oriented - must meet deadlines based on both internal and external funder requirements
  • Commitment to student success


Required Education: Bachelor's degree in education, public administration, project management, or related field

Preferred Education: Master's degree

Required Experience:



  • Minimum of four years in grant management, preferably in higher education or nonprofit setting
  • Experience with budgeting and fiscal oversight of large-scale projects
  • Familiarity with GEAR UP or similar college readiness initiative
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-partner collaborations


Preferred Experience: Knowledge of state, federal and /or local funding guidelines and College procedures and policies; experience with educational and/or training programs in field of specific grant; successful grant writing and fund acquisitions.

This position is grant-funded and the duration of employment is expressly conditioned upon availability of said funding.
