Job Summary

The Associate Director of Data Analytics at FIU Online serves as a strategic leader, leveraging the power of data to drive informed decision-making, operational excellence, and institutional growth. Reporting to the Senior Director, People & Programs, this role is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation,
and continuous improvement of data-driven processes, performance metrics, and reporting frameworks that align with the dynamic needs of online education within the context of the larger FIU institutional strategic goals. The Associate Director ensures the integrity and accessibility of data across platforms, including Salesforce, PeopleSoft, Tableau, and SQL-based environments, while fostering a culture of data governance and literacy. The Associate Director transforms complex data into actionable insights that shape policies, guide resource allocation, and measure success. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking strategist and hands-on analyst, passionate about using data to empower innovation, enhance student outcomes, and support FIU's long-term vision.

  • Leads the strategic use of data analytics to support FIU Online's mission, operations, and alignment with institutional objectives.
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage data in optimizing business processes, enhancing digital learner experience and success, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Translates institutional and departmental strategic goals into actionable data initiatives.
  • Designs, develops, and implements data-driven business processes and measures aligned with best practices in online education.
  • Defines, monitors, and refines performance indicators to support online program portfolio management, including tracking and communication of program admissions pipelines, enrollment trends, retention and graduation markers.
  • Oversees the maintenance, integrity, and scalability of FIU Online's data environment in collaboration with the FIU Online Technical Services team, the institutional Office of Analysis and Information Management, and other teams.
  • Develops and enforces data governance frameworks to ensure accuracy, consistency, privacy, and security of institutional data.
  • Manages the coordination, analysis, and timely release of statistical information and reports for internal and external stakeholders including university leadership, publications, and relevant agencies.
  • Creates dashboards, visualizations, and executive-level reports that support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Collaborates closely with the FIU Online Executive Leadership team to guide strategic planning through data insights.
  • Partners with institutional research, enrollment management, academic departments and other campus entities to support cross-functional data initiatives.
  • Represents FIU Online in university-wide analytics committees and working groups.
  • Champions a culture of data-informed decision-making across FIU Online by mentoring staff and promoting data literacy; leads training and workshops to empower users to interpret and use data effectively.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data analytics, higher education, and online learning.
  • Recommend and implement innovative tools and methodologies to enhance data analysis and reporting capabilities.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six (6) years of appropriate experience or a Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four (4) years of appropriate experience.


Desired Qualifications
  • Extensive hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex interactive dashboards and data stories using Tableau (or similar tools like Power BI), specifically focused on communicating strategic outcomes
  • Direct experience integrating and extracting data from enterprise systems common in higher education, particularly PeopleSoft (Campus Solutions or HCM) and Salesforce (or similar CRM platforms), for reporting and analysis
  • Direct experience analyzing and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) unique to online learning, such as course success rates, persistence/retention in online programs, course completion rates, and faculty workload/productivity metrics
  • Proficiency in SQL and other data querying languages to extract, manipulate, and validate large datasets across multiple systems.
