Lecturer, Deaf Studies/Educational Interpreting (Disability and Psychoeduc Studies)

The Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies (DPS) in the College of Education (COE) invites applications for a full-time appointment as an Lecturer, Deaf Studies/Educational Interpreting.

This appointment begins in August 2026.

This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.

The program faculty places a high value on collaboration both within the program and across disciplines. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to work with varied students, stakeholders, and colleagues and are informed by principles of disability studies/independent living/universal design.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and interpersonal skill.

• Master's in Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, or a closely related field.
• Interpreter Certification (NIC, NAD, RID, CDI, or equitable qualification) required; interpreting experience expected.
• Experience with direct engagement and/or professional services with varied communities.
• Experience with the discipline of Deaf Studies and Educational Interpreting.

• Experience with course, curriculum, and program development.
• Experience with accreditation processes and standards for interpreter education programs.
• Membership in various interpreter, deaf, and interpreter training organizations.
• Record of effective teaching and professional activity.
• Teaching, service, and applied research experiences that contribute to a variety of opportunities in higher education and that engage with various populations that may have differing needs; potential to teach in multiple formats (face to face, hybrid, online).
• Experience/commitment to fostering an engaging faculty, staff, and student environment.
