What You Will Do:

The Temporary Emergency Housing and Partnership Coordinator will strengthen collaboration between National Louis University (NLU) and key stakeholders to address student housing insecurity and improve student transitions to higher education. The coordinator will play a key role in developing partnerships, facilitating events, supporting housing initiatives, and participating in professional development to better address the needs of McKinney-Vento and DCFS students. In addition, the coordinator will review emergency fund requests, gather and verify documentation from students, and assist with placing students in emergency housing through coordination with the Housing Director to ensure timely access to support and resources.

This is a temporary full-time position through June 30, 2025 or other date as determined by administration.



Essential Responsibilities

    Review and process student emergency fund applications by collecting and verifying required documentation, assessing eligibility, and coordinating with campus partners to ensure timely and equitable distribution of funds
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Emergency Housing Policy and Procedures Manual for National Louis University (NLU). This includes establishing clear guidelines for identifying students in immediate housing crisis, outlining referral and intake processes, defining roles and responsibilities across departments, and ensuring alignment with university policies and community resources to provide timely and equitable support
  • Coordinate with the Housing Director to place students in temporary emergency housing, ensuring appropriate accommodations, conduct weekly check-ins with students, and maintain an organized schedule of move-in and move-out dates to provide consistent support and accurate tracking of housing assignments
  • Participate in professional development to enhance understanding of housing insecurity and apply insights to improve collaboration and reporting. Document activities, track progress, and prepare reports to ensure grant compliance and alignment with project goals
  • In coordination with the Director of Access and Campus Resources, lead the development and implementation of comprehensive processes to identify, monitor, and support homeless students, McKinney-Vento students, and those involved with DCFS across all NLU campuses
  • Organize and execute transition events to introduce McKinney-Vento and DCFS students and their families to NLU resources and support services. Collaborate with CPS to design events that address students' unique needs, focusing on housing stability, academic support, and holistic care. Evaluate the success of events and incorporate feedback for improvement.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a centralized, user-friendly resource webpage on the NLU website, designed to serve as a comprehensive hub for homeless students, their families, and the broader NLU community, including faculty, staff, and students. Responsibilities include curating and creating a wide array of resources such as guides, links to services, and engaging video tutorials tailored to the unique needs of this population.


Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology or related field (or the equivalent of an Associate's Degree in college level course work)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with external organizations in building relationships and aligning on shared goals
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute events, including managing logistics, communication, and evaluation
  • Project management experience including the ability to be flexible and manage multiple tasks and deadlines while still achieving deliverables and objectives
  • Proficient in using office productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and comfortable learning project management or tracking systems
  • Ability to document activities, analyze data, and contribute to preparing detailed grant compliance or performance reports
  • Must also be able to lift up to 50lbs

The salary range of the grade for this position is $42,671.29 to $59,739.81 annually. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate. Offers are based on multiple factors permitted by law, including but not limited to: budgetary considerations, job-related knowledge/skills, experience, market considerations, tenure and standing with the university (applicable to current employees), and internal equity.
