Job Summary Benjamin Moore & Co., a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a leading manufacturer of innovative, high-quality colorants, resins and coatings for the architectural and industrial maintenance markets. We are currently seeking a Sr. Research and Development International Group Manager to join our Product Development team in Flanders, New Jersey.

This strategic leadership role will focus on driving innovation, managing global R&D initiatives, and aligning Product Development with international market needs and regulatory standards. This role will lead a team of highly motivated chemists in the formulation and innovation of international coatings; working collaboratively with Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, US Product Development laboratories, Marketing, and Regulatory Affairs. This candidate will have a proven track record of managing international R&D teams and delivering innovative products while strategically leading with a keen focus on driving innovation, managing international research programs, and ensuring alignment with business objectives across international territories This role will ensure coatings are compliant with International regulations while aligning product development with end users needs or preferences.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

    Oversee and lead a group of chemists and scientists to develop new products in partnership with Quality, Marketing, and Manufacturing teams to ensure coating standards and compliance are met. Develop a coatings strategy to support Company objectives.
  • Lead R&D projects for the team, setting priorities and timelines within budgetary guidelines to meet business goals. Regularly communicate project progress to key stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of international competition and Industry trends and regulations, regularly sharing information with Product Development colleagues
  • Collaborate with patent and legal teams on intellectual property strategy
  • Monitor emerging trends and technologies to keep the organization at the forefront of innovation.
  • Strong cross functional collaboration with product marketing teams to align technical developments with market strategies.
  • Support Manufacturing, QA/QC and Procurement on product scale ups, quality and new alternate materials
  • Mentor future leaders, identify development needs and outline training programs
  • Continue professional growth through learning and capability building initiatives.
  • Maintain and ensure that all laboratory safety guidelines are followed


Qualifications

Desired Experience / Qualifications

  • PhD with a minimum of 10 years or MS with 15+ years' experience in Coatings, Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Materials Engineering or related fields
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing R&D teams with a focus on international or global site network
  • Strong knowledge of product development life cycles, innovation methodologies, and regulatory environments
  • Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey scientific concepts clearly, effectively fostering collaborative relationships at all organizational levels
  • Fluent in English (additional language skills a plus).
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.

Computer Knowledge/Digital Skills:

  • Proficient in using formulation and lab data management software
  • Skilled in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel (advanced), Power BI,)
  • Microsoft platforms
  • SAP Knowledge

USD $134,100.00 - USD $171,600.00 /Yr.
