Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Adminstrator for Salem for the business office within the School of Nursing. Under direction, the Program Administrator assists the Chief Financial Officer and the Business Manager in overall financial and business operations of the School. Assists in reviewing financial analysis, budgeting, projections and other financial related activities. Oversee position control and personnel related cost analysis. Conduct academic program related financial analysis for purpose of program performance, accreditation financial data requirements and program enhancement and expansion. Performs other fiscal related activities and special projects as assigned.

Duties include:

  • Reviews and approves purchase orders, check requests and other expense requests for the designated divisions/departments. Interacts and resolves various financial issues and inquires with Purchasing, Accounts Payable and Payroll in relation to funding availability, charge accuracy and other related issues.
  • Prepares journal entries, expense reclassification and project adjustments for the designated funds. Processes HR transactions including commitment accounting related to faculty and staff hiring to ensure proper departmental accounts being charged. Reviews and approves staff members' journal entries as assigned.
  • Reviews and oversees monthly FTEs, salary and fringe analysis as part of the monthly finance close assignment. Prepare necessary salary and fringe adjustments related to merit increase, cost of living adjustments, faculty incentive awards and other salary related adjustments according to union requirements and university mandates. Prepares and submits variance analysis as compared to current year budget and prior year expense level with meaningful explanations.
  • Conducts position controls by keeping track of vacant positions, employee status changes, promotions, resignations and other personnel related actions that affect FTEs and salary expenses.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Health Care Administration, Business Administration or a related field (Master degree preferred) plus a minimum of five (5) years of progressively more responsible financial analytical experience.
  • Knowledge in spreadsheet applications and database systems used in financial and/or accounting applications is required.
  • Additional related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year-for-year basis
