 Summary The Principal Data Management Architect (Digital Transformation) is a strategic and technical advisor within Workiva's Data Management Practice. You guide our most sophisticated customers and partners through complex digital transformation, building their data strategy and automation maturity on the Workiva platform. Using deep experience in data management, integration, and automation, you drive long-term business value. You act as an experienced business and strategy consultant with strong technical skills, lead high-stakes engagements, work directly with executives, and coordinate across customer departments. You define organizational data strategy, understand technical and business goals, and advise on leading practices. By building strong relationships and enabling operational maturity, you deliver reliable solutions and measurable outcomes that drive lasting success with Workiva. What You'll Do Strategic Relationship and Adoption: 
 Lead executive-level strategic engagements with customers to understand their comprehensive data strategy, digital transformation objectives, and desired outcomes with Workiva solutions Partner with the pre-sales team to facilitate a seamless transition from the sales process to enterprise-wide platform adoption Leverage advanced relationship management techniques while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure a cohesive and positive customer experience during strategic engagements and digital transformation initiatives Drive profound, long-term customer and partner success by fostering product adoption, ensuring satisfaction, defining expected business outcomes, and demonstrating the measurable value realized through digital transformation programs Proactively engage with customer and partner environments, staying deeply informed about the Workiva product roadmap and continuously uncovering customer needs to provide expert support and guidance  
 
Consultation and Solution Delivery: 
 Analyze complex enterprise data needs and design scalable use of the Workiva Data Management Suite. Provide senior technical direction to delivery teams Architect and review cross-system integrations, defining master data flows between customer systems and the Workiva platform. Architect and review advanced data queries and reporting solutions to meet analytical requirements, mentoring teams on leading practices Run architectural assessments of customer data environments, outlining gaps, risks, and opportunities for enterprise-level optimization  
 
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership: 
 Provide program management and strategic leadership to key services and customer success stakeholders, coordinating the interdependencies among multiple complex transformation projects Gather executive-level input from customers and partners, collaborate with leadership, product, and engineering teams, and use those insights to shape the product roadmap and feature design  
 
Thought Leadership and Enablement: 
 Lead advanced knowledge-sharing sessions with customer and partner application owners to drive self-sufficiency and long-term success Develop high-quality, reusable assets and reference architectures (white papers, webinars, frameworks) focused on transformation strategies, scalable platform adoption, and partner enablement to support repeatable success across enterprise customers  
 
What You'll Need 
Minimum Qualifications
 Bachelor's Degree in a technical field of study, such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or similar 10+ years of experience in customer-facing roles, preferably Customer Success, Solution Architecture, or Consulting 5+ years of experience serving as a technical lead or fulfilling a team lead position  
 
Preferred Qualifications
 5+ years of experience working directly with the Workiva platform and its data management capabilities, including Wdata and Chains Experience integrating or managing Software-as-a-Service applications and enterprise systems, especially in the fields of Accounting & Finance, Audit, Risk & Compliance, or Sustainability Expert in data structures and schemas from regulated industries, with the ability to turn complex regulatory requirements into clear, software-driven workflows Experience working with or integrating ERP systems (Oracle, Workday, SAP, Sage), EPM systems (Oracle, Planful, Anaplan), and data and analytics platforms (Oracle, Snowflake, Power BI) Strong understanding of Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and ETL techniques Familiarity with cloud platforms and modern data architectures (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure Synapse) Prior experience with integration technologies such as Informatica, Microsoft SSIS, Boomi, Mulesoft, Workato, or similar solutions. Knowledge of API design philosophy/patterns, communication protocols (SOAP, REST, JSON, XML), and encoding Familiarity with creating, reviewing, and tuning queries using SQL. Familiarity with leveraging application code and scripting (e.g., Python) to automate scalable workflows Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills Ability to influence at all levels and in various departments. Highly data-driven and detail-oriented Strong problem-solving skills with technical diagnostic ability. Self-starter with the ability to manage time and prioritize demands  
 
Travel Requirements and Working Conditions 
How You'll Be Rewarded 
 Salary range in the US: $177,000.00 - $284,000.00
A discretionary bonus typically paid annually Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire 401(k) match and comprehensive employee benefits package The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this job in the US.
