Peraton is seeking a Lead Surveillance Systems Manager (Product Manager) to oversee the development, integration, and lifecycle management of advanced surveillance systems critical to the safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System (NAS). This position plays a key role in ensuring that radar, ADS-B, multilateration, and other surveillance technologies evolve to meet the FAA's operational, performance, and cybersecurity objectives. The ideal candidate will combine strong program management acumen with deep technical understanding of aviation surveillance systems, leading teams to deliver next-generation situational awareness capabilities that define the future of U.S. air traffic control.

Responsibilities

    Lead planning, coordination, and execution of FAA surveillance system modernization initiatives under the BNATCS program.

  • Collaborate with FAA stakeholders, systems engineers, and software developers to define technical requirements, integration priorities, and deployment strategies.

  • Manage program schedules, deliverables, and performance metrics to ensure timely, cost-effective execution across all phases of the project lifecycle.

  • Provide strategic oversight of multiple surveillance-related projects, ensuring alignment with FAA modernization objectives and interoperability across systems.

  • Oversee data analysis, reporting, and documentation to track program progress, risks, and compliance with contractual obligations.

  • Brief management on project status, key risks, dependencies, and corrective actions to maintain schedule and budget adherence.

  • Establish and maintain systems for data collection, performance tracking, and reporting to ensure program transparency and accountability.

  • Identify, assess, and resolve project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies that preserve mission-critical timelines.

  • Develop and implement compliance procedures to ensure adherence to FAA, federal, and industry standards.

  • Coordinate with engineering and test teams to validate performance, ensure certification readiness, and support system acceptance activities.

  • Prepare program documentation, reports, and variance analyses for FAA and internal management review.

  • Serve as the primary liaison to FAA leadership, vendors, and subcontractors for all matters related to surveillance systems development and delivery.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless integration with automation, communications, and navigation systems within the broader NAS architecture.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • 12 years of experience, may have supervisory or management experience
  • 10+ years of experience in program, product, or systems management of complex engineering or technology programs - preferably within aviation, defense, or government sectors.
  • Deep understanding of air traffic surveillance systems, including radar, ADS-B, MLAT, and sensor fusion technologies.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale modernization or integration programs in a highly regulated environment.
  • Strong proficiency in project planning, risk management, and performance tracking tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-disciplinary teams and coordinate with government and industry partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience briefing senior stakeholders and executives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct experience supporting FAA surveillance programs (e.g., ASR-11, ATCBI-6, Mode S, ADS-B, or related BNATCS initiatives).
  • PMP, PgMP, or Agile/SAFe certification.
  • Familiarity with FAA systems engineering, acquisition, and certification processes.
  • Background in systems integration, networked surveillance architectures, or real-time operational systems.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
