Responsibilities

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a Senior Systems Engineer (Aerial Targets) to support the Navy's Aerial Targets Program Office (PMA-208) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. PMA-208's mission is to advance the Navy's combat readiness by delivering next-generation threat-representative targets. This Systems Engineer position supports the Supersonic Aerial Targets Integrated Product Team (IPT), including the AQM-88A Supersonic Air Launched Target (SALT) and the GQM-163A ("Coyote") Supersonic Sea-Skimming Target along with the Strategic Planning & Initiatives team providing a critical role in fielding affordable supersonic target solutions with novel capabilities to deploying fleets.

The selected candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Provide engineering support to the respective PMA-208 IPTs, APME and Military Class Desk
  • Coordinate across multiple external stakeholders (PMA-242, PMA-265, Target Test Ranges, Surface & Mine Warfare Development Center and the ARM TPO at China Lake)
  • Review and support airworthiness and flight clearances
  • Assist in preparation and execution of Technical Reviews and Program Management Reviews
  • Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs)
  • Review engineering Statements of Work (SOW), Drawings, Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) and provide program updates
  • Developing engineering inputs to budgets, POM requests, spend & staffing plans
  • Planning technical staffing and schedule for new and existing efforts
  • Providing technical plans in support of POM issue sheets
  • Support the System Safety program, Weapon Systems Explosives Safety Review Board and Risk/Failure Review Boards

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Education: Must have a master's degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university or a bachelor's degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience.
  • Minimum years of experience:
    • Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of recent and relevant experience in an engineering position, three (3) years of which must be directly related to DoD systems.
    • Engineering expertise for both can be from weapons, UAS or store integration
  • Key Skills:
    • Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an active DoD Secret Clearance or higher.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with NAVAIR airworthiness, system safety & WSESRB processes desired
  • Prior desired aerial target experience is preferred but not required

Compensation:

At Sabre Systems, LLC, compensation is based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific requirements. The general salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000; however, final compensation will be determined by individual qualifications and applicable contract terms.
