Brad Foote Gear Works is looking for an Assembly Supervisor to join our team in Cicero, IL. This position is responsible for overseeing the assembly operations to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency of our gearbox components Key duties include maintaining a safe work environment, meeting production and shipping targets, verifying product quality, coordinating with plant management and shipping, managing material flow, and supporting global sales efforts. The role also involves accurate documentation and compliance with company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Provide a safe working environment through enforcing appropriate housekeeping and PPE compliance
  • Ensure monthly production and shipment goals are met
  • Ensure all assembly products meet quality specifications
  • Ensure all operations are completed and signed off by all direct reports prior to shipment
  • Confer with plant manager and scheduler on scheduling of orders
  • Ensure all parts are identified with job and shop order numbers
  • Confirm ship to dates with shipping manager on orders ready to ship
  • Provide support to global salesmen to help close open orders
  • Ensure proper flow of materials through plant
  • Perform accurate material requisitions and fabrication forms
  • Perform accurate material transactions in ERP system
  • Work with other departments and customers on projects from inception through completion to ensure all projects meet customer satisfaction for scope, schedule and budget
  • Strengthen company-wide knowledge of products by providing ongoing positive communication and advanced knowledge base
  • Must be a self-starter and can work with limited supervision within a team environment as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Must be able to communicate with all areas and levels of the company and interface with project teams
  • Ensure that proper intellectual property protection is in place including filing patents when applicable
  • Determine specification of purchase parts or material
  • Check manufacturing bills of material for completeness and accuracy
  • Ensure that all parts are processed in the most cost-effective manner that meets or exceeds contract specifications
  • Troubleshoot problems with production management, take corrective action and devise new approaches to problems encountered
  • Recognize and implement continuous improvements to manufacturing practices and techniques
  • Provide accurate availability/lead time information based on current backlog
  • Organized, professional self-starter and team player
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Academic/Experience/Credentials/Certifications:


  • BS in Operations Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering OR High school Diploma or GED equivalent with 10 or more years of machining and/or assembly supervisor experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with ERP system


Specialized Skills/Knowledge/Ability


  • Able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in an efficient manner in a fast-paced environment
  • Lead the gearbox teardown and assembly operations concurrently
  • Act as a liaison with engineering to ensure effective use of the ECN/ECR process
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints including gear geometry
  • Work closely with procurement, scheduling and production to meet customer demand
  • Advise the plant manager on status of enclosed drive items
  • Excellent verbal and written and follow-up communication skills
