The Salvation Army Mission

Qualifications

Must be trustworthy and able to work independently. Must be able to follow verbal and written instruction. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of position. Must be willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army.

Summary of Position

Represent The Salvation Army at the Red Kettle Stand and ring the bell at assigned locations as scheduled. This is a seasonal position with a varying workweek expectation of up to 40 hours per week and this position is without benefits.

Wage: $15.97 per hour, up to 40 hours a week as a temporary position

Description of Position

Responsibilities include:



  • Arrive to work site on time - please do not be late.
  • Always be clean, neat and well groomed.
  • Report ready to work and dressed appropriately for the weather outside.
  • Be professional and polite, smile, make eye contact and greet people with Merry Christmas, God Bless You or Happy Holidays.
  • Refer questions to the main office or to your supervisor. Phone numbers provided on the kettle stand
  • Call your supervisor should something unusual happens at the kettle site.
  • Wear your Salvation Army identification badge at all times while on duty.
  • "Gently" ring the bell, holding it down at your side.
  • Never touch or directly handle the cash, always have the donor put the money in the kettle.
  • Call your supervisor as early as possible if you are sick and unable to work.
  • Never eat or smoke while on duty at the kettle - you can during your breaks provided you are far away from the kettle.
  • Foul language/gestures or making negative comments of any kind will not be tolerated.
  • Never sit on planters, garbage cans, parking poles, etc.
  • Never bring personal purchases to the kettle site with you.
  • Personal shopping is done on your "Off "time only.
  • Never loiter inside the store or bother store personal - stay out of their way at all times.
  • Never stand in a the way, block the store entrance or get in the way of customers
  • Never abandon the kettle - doing so will result in your immediate termination.
