Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Supervisor position is responsible for assisting the Clinical Manager with, but not limited to, planning, organizing, directing, executing, and evaluating all aspects of the pharmacy for the Hospital.

Essential Function:

  • Interprets and processes physician's orders, performs drugs information, continuous quality improvement activities and performs non-distributive services, such as drug-level monitoring, that are established by policy.
  • Assists Manager to ensure the availability of competent staff to conduct the services of the department.
  • Provides for the ongoing education of staff and promotes teamwork concepts within staff.
  • Supervises personnel and ensures an efficient workflow in a positive work environment.
  • Considers unique patient needs and demonstrates age-specific competencies.
  • Responds to physicians and fellow hospital staff in a professional manner, remembering that patient care is OHH's first concern.
  • Supervisor/Coordinator fills orders for parenteral and enteral medications, monitor patient drug therapies and provide drug information.
  • Staff pharmacists supervise and direct support personnel.
  • Supervisor/Coordinator participate in the education of patients and staff on drug therapy, in continuous quality improvement activities, non-distributive services such as drug-level monitoring and adverse event monitoring and reporting.
  • In the absence of the Clinical Manager, the supervisor/coordinator will be required to assume the essential responsibilities and perform the duties of the Clinical Manager.

Qualifications

Education: Requires a bachelor degree from an accredited school of Pharmacy D. optional.

Licensure/Certification: Registered pharmacist with current Oklahoma licensure. Preceptor License Required

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of hospital experience preferred. One (1) year management experience preferred.

Working Knowledge: Able to interpret, assess, compound and dispense all pharmaceuticals. Knowledge of appropriate drug information sources and general knowledge of word and data processing operations sufficient to perform data entry, compile statistics and generate appropriate reports.
