Job Description

The Plant President provides leadership in the development and execution of plans and strategies for continually improving people, processes, technology, and culture. The Plant President is responsible for monitoring employee development, equipment performance and utilization, safety practices, and other key business indicators; and, working with the site leadership team and business Executives to build and execute action plans to improve and achieve strategic plans, budgets, and other corporate goals.

  • Lead the plant to improve the sales pipeline, safety, quality, productivity, and reduction of waste on a consistent and continual basis in each and every process.
  • P&L responsibility for assigned locations, including the preparation and management of capital and operational budgets.
  • Work to improve the performance of employees through consistent and continual leadership in education and training programs.
  • Establish and maintain a viable succession plan for all critical human resources.
  • Provide guidance and direction to department managers regarding the continual improvement of operations for which they have ownership.
  • Lead and manage the local plant Sales team in both strategy and daily, cadenced lead/prospect/client tactical insights, to ensure an effective and viable local sales pipeline.
  • Work with company Sales Representatives from all channels to maintain and acquire new customers for the organization.
  • Review and report on manufacturing activities, performances, and results. Initiate team action to identify and remove problems with schedules, excessive costs, materials, or other factors affecting quality, safety, service, or productivity levels inconsistent with plant continual improvement efforts.
  • Maintain open communication with plant employees and Corporate Staff to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, EEO, and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies.
  • Provide reports and feedback on plant performance to Corporate Staff as required.
  • Make recommendations regarding hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, training, and merit increases of Plant Personnel.
  • Motivate staff in support of department objectives and timely and effective schedules to ensure production goals.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continual process improvement efforts in order to assure that all customer expectations (internal and external) are exceeded.
  • Perform other related duties and business related as required.

Qualifications

Additional Information
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, Graphic Arts or related field, or equivalent years of experience preferred
  • 8+ years of diversified management experience within the printing industry OR similar manufacturing industry, with proven success in leading operations teams
  • Experience leading sales teams is highly desired
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean skills/experience highly preferred
  • Ability to lead a diverse team of both sales and operations group
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate with internal and external teams
  • Ability to lead and influence change
  • Ability to lead through empathy
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong desire to apply continuous improvement throughout the plant

RD's current salary range for this role is $116,500 to $186,500 / year. The salary range may be adjusted

based on the applicable geographic location of the hired employee, and the range may change in the

future. At RRD, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and

compensation decisions may vary based upon, but not limited to education, skills, experience, proficiency,

performance, shift and location. Depending on the role, in addition to base salary, the total compensation

package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program. RRD's benefit

offerings include medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, disability insurance, 401(k) with

company match, life insurance and other voluntary supplemental insurance coverages, plus parental

leave, adoption assistance, tuition assistance and employer/partner discounts.
