See what it's like to work at GROWMARK:https://youtu.be/CSVMnKCySsY PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT Responsible for maintaining, analyzing, and preparing accounting documents for the company's Retail Divisions. Ensures day to day accounting procedures and records are maintained and managed according to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company specific guidelines. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts. Performs specific accounting functions necessary for the development of monthly financial statements for the Retail Divisions. Analyzes inventory utilizing sales invoices, transfer records, or purchase invoices to determine accurate perpetual inventory levels. Works with Retail Division personnel to research and resolve discrepancies. Compiles records needed to complete monthly returns for state and federal reporting agencies. Analyzes product margins and investigates discrepancies from expected values. Reconciles general ledger accounts and determines proper handling of financial transactions. Assists in analysis of financial information, preparation of income statements, and other reports to summarize current and project future company financial position. Reviews, investigates, and troubleshoots errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, general ledger, documents, and reports. Provides guidance and steps for correcting issues. Produces reports and provides assistance with reporting needs to support the Retail Divisions, internal audit and the budgeting process. Assists and trains Retail Division staff on company accounting guidelines and requirements and ensures procedures are followed. Updates and maintains business processes and procedures. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Follows GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply. Performs all other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Normally requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, or the equivalent thereof, and 2 years or more of accounting related work experience to demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles. Knowledge and understanding of General Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) preferred. Understanding and experience with accounting-related areas including payables, recievables, billing systems, overhead, general ledger, and fixed asset systems and softwares, financial statements, internal controls, accounting standards, audit strategy, policies and procedures, and compliance. Proven computer skills including spreadsheet, database, and query tools; the ability to use the computer to enhance business processes; and the ability to learn accounting-related software. Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered "normal."
