Position Summary

The Engineer in Training position is an entry-level role within the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees in this position solve problems in areas of specialization (Design, Electrical, Material, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering) under close supervision. Engineer in Training is expected to develop both their technical and customer communications skills and work towards being able to operate with greater independence. An Engineer in Training has knowledge of fundamental concepts of engineering and the ability to adapt and learn in technically challenging environments.



Responsibilities

    Learn to develop test procedures and design test setups for common Acuren tests
  • Work alongside senior technicians to complete test programs as directed by project managers
  • Process data and generate observations as required by project plan
  • Develop draft reports and work with the Technical Experts as needed to finalize for client delivery
  • Complete low technical level tasks for other engineering departments as needed

Other work duties as assigned.



Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical knowledge in the applicable field
  • Analytical/investigation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. H
  • High-energy, customer-focused, and a positive, success-oriented attitude

EDUCATION:

  • 0 - 6 years of work experience
  • Completed at least two years of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Office environment with limited physical effort, continuous mental effort, and frequent complex requests for assistance in and out of a lab environment.
  • Occasional fieldwork or travel may be required.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, or drive for extended periods as required by the task or work location.
  • Must be able to move about in office, lab, and industrial settings, including climbing ladders or accessing elevated work areas as needed.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle instruments, tools, and computer equipment.
  • Ability to read technical documents, perform visual inspections, and use precision instruments or computers for data analysis.
  • Occasionally lift or move materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Exposure to laboratory or industrial conditions including noise, equipment vibration, and occasional contact with testing materials or machinery (proper PPE provided).
