The Opportunity:

In this role, you will report to the Onsite Manager and will work closely with the Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Spring House, PA

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Hourly Rate: $21.00 - $24.00

What we're looking for

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of laboratory experience in sample handling, inventory management, or logistics coordination.

  • Experience working in cold storage environments (e.g., -80C freezers) and handling frozen biological or chemical materials.

  • Familiarity with hazardous chemical handling protocols and proper use of PPE.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data tracking, reporting, and inventory management.

  • Experience with inventory management systems such as Mosaic or other LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).

  • Strong attention to detail in labeling, documentation, and sample traceability.

  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and maintain compliance with lab safety standards.

Soft Skills:

  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with cross-functional teams and responding to sample requests.

  • Collaboration tool experience (Microsoft Teams preferred).

Preferred Certifications:

  • Hazardous Chemical Safety Training (e.g., OSHA-compliant or internal lab certification).

  • Biosafety Level 1 or 2 Training

  • GxP (Good Laboratory Practice) or GLP Certification

  • Lab Equipment Calibration Training

  • Basic Laboratory Techniques Certificate

How you will thrive and create an impact

Avantor's Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support. In this role you will:

  • Prepare and allocate shipments; ensure samples and paperwork are dock-ready.

  • Communicate with senders, receivers, and dock staff to confirm details and resolve issues.

  • Maintain daily whiteboard updates and track shipment volume.

  • Calibrate lab instruments (pH meters, conductivity meters, scales) daily.

  • Ensure availability of buffer and storage solutions; log results in Excel.

  • Conduct lab walkthroughs to identify incoming shipments and update inventory.

  • Return shipping materials and monitor freezer/refrigerator storage capacity.

  • Maintain manual logs for sample types and available slots.

  • Process internal sample requests via email; label and package materials accurately.

  • Respond to inquiries and clarify sample requests.

  • Maintain lab supplies and perform freezer maintenance as needed.

  • Update request logs and inventory systems.

  • Track daily metrics in Excel for monthly reporting.
