GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, assists with processing patient imaging records and expediting patient care within the radiology department. Greets patients in person or through various communication media to establish rapport between the hospital, patient, family, and radiology staff. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. May explain examination procedure to patients and their families and prepare patients for the examination. 2. May escort patients, (both in and out-patients), within the clinic/hospital. 3. May prepare the procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies. 4. May prepare and set up equipment and supplies required for procedure to be performed. Ensures that adequate supplies are in the room and properly stored. 5. Print reports, burn patient imaging to storage media, fax reports or send reports to assist the physician in getting the report 6. Perform clerical duties to include answering telephones, patient scheduling and RIS functions 7. Performs other duties as assigned EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. * Previous experience in patient care preferred. * Knowledge of basic medical terminology, Radiology Information Systems and Henry Ford Health Information system functions preferred. * Telephone usage and principles of filing required.
