Responsibilities The Lead Donor Specialist is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of blood collection activities to ensure donor and product safety, excellent customer service, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Responsible to fill the role of Donor Care Technicians when not assigned to lead activities at a mobile blood drive or fixed site. Effectively manage blood collection process to ensure optimal donor flow/staffutilization and that all blood collection activities take place in accordance with SOPs. Successfully fulfill all job requirements of the Donor Care Technician position per the Donor CareTechnician job description and the career ladder criteria. The Lead Donor Specialist will oversee the activities of staff and volunteers as assigned at blood drives and fixed sites. The Lead Donor Specialist is expected to share concerns regarding staff behavior and competence with Supervisors and DS Managers. The ability to maintain confidentiality of staff situations and exercise appropriate discretion in all interactions is essential. Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalency; Graduate of certified Medical Laboratory or Phlebotomy Program preferred; CPR certified or will certify once employed. Will be required to take and pass competency tests as defined by the DS department for specific location, Qualifications: At Fixed Site Locations -. Must be whole blood, double red cell (Alyx) and platelets (Trima) trained. Mobile Blood Drive Location - Must be whole blood and double red cell (Alyx) trained. Previous medical and/or supervisory experience preferred. Errors and Quantity Not Sufficient (QNS) withinthresholds. Provides excellent customer service by acknowledging the donor, treating donors in a Must be able to fluently speak, read, write, and comprehend English. Schedule: Varied work schedule. Travel throughout Connecticut is required. The proposed hourly rate for this position is $27.66/hr. - $29/hr.
