      The Institute for Global Studies and associated research centers and academic programs occasionally hire part-time and/or short-term employees (Temporary/Casual, Job Code 0001) to carry out various projects and provide support in the following areas: administration, communications, community engagement, events, technology, and research, as assigned and in consultation with faculty directors and program coordinators.       The Institute for Global Studies (IGS) connects students, scholars, and communities dedicated to social justice, understanding, and transforming our globalized world. IGS offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate major and minor intended to foster innovative problem solving by providing students with a variety of methods and analytic tools. Students are encouraged to develop new perspectives that combine diverse ways of knowing the world. With support from the U.S. Department of Education, the Institute for Global Studies offers Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships in African, Asian, and International Studies, and hosts educational initiatives and programs sponsored by the University's National Resource Center in International Studies. IGS strives to: Create an environment for students and scholars at the University of Minnesota to investigate the sets of interrelated processes forming today's increasingly interdependent world.

      Pay Range: $20.00 - $50.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience. Pay Frequency: Biweekly according to the University's biweekly payroll calendar for FY26. Retirement plan options are available for Civil Service, Faculty, Labor-Represented, Professional & Administrative, and Temp Casual classifications. Learn more about retirement plans. While our salary ranges provide a framework, it is important to note that most of the time, the initial pay may not reach the maximum of the range. This approach ensures that compensation reflects the value and unique contributions of each candidate while maintaining equity within our organization.
