Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. Manages, prepares, administers, and directs control of budget / organization resources. Manages the activities of the financial / resource analyst staff. Reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control. Monitors division and department adherence to approved budget. Provides guidance to subordinates to achieve goals in accordance with established policies. Work is reviewed and measured based on meeting objectives and schedules. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules. Participates jointly with DA and faculty leadership in the development of strategy, budget development, and data analytic programs.


Your Role on the Team

Involves developing, interpreting and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning (dollars), and control of organizational budget. May analyze and prepare recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and operating forecasts.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance and budget policies, practices and systems; budgeting and reporting techniques; fund accounting; human resource planning; accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels; ability to interact with diverse populations.
  • Client services oriented; good listening, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business/Healthcare administration
  • 7-9 Years of Experience
  • 3-5 year experience in managing division/departments in a complex matrix of comparable level of experience.

Preferred:

  • Proven personnel management strength, including demonstrated ability to select, motivate, develop, evaluate performance, discipline, and promote collaborative team efforts.
  • Working knowledge of UCI cost accounting standards.
  • Previous experience in an academic setting or private physician office.
  • Previous UC system experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of trends in healthcare delivery system, the provision of care, and other emerging issues in healthcare management.
