Responsibilities
 
 
The Histology Supervisor functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading the histology department. With direct oversight of staff who perform histology specimen preparation, and testing specific to the pathology/histology department.  
 
Qualifications
 
 
Job Requirements:  
 - Baccalaureate Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical or biological science.
 - BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
 
 
 OR 
 - Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical, physical or biological science with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
 - ASCP (HT) or equivalent
 
  
   - Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment
    
     - If certification does lapse, job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated
 
      
    - Experience as a Histology Technologist
 - Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles
 - 1+ years' experience with high complexity testing in Pathology
 - BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
 
 
Preferred Job Requirements 
 - Certification as a Histotechnologist
 - Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement and regulatory standards
