1Job Summary
The Mechanical Engineer I will support the design, simulation, prototyping, and testing of mechanical components and assemblies that contribute to the performance, reliability, and usability of our products. As a member of a multidisciplinary R&D team, you'll assist in developing precision mechanical subsystems for cryogenic and vacuum-based instrumentation. This role supports new product introductions, custom development, and sustaining engineering efforts, with a focus on learning, collaboration, and quality.
2Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Expectations
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems
- Support engineering tasks throughout the development cycle-from concept and simulation to prototyping, testing, and release
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, reports, and test procedures
- Participate in analysis, prototyping, and validation testing to ensure performance and reliability
- Collaborate with electrical, software, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to integrate mechanical designs into complex systems
- Communicate effectively with project management and manufacturing teams to support development and production goals
- Contribute to technical design reviews and provide feedback to improve quality and manufacturability
- Manage assigned tasks and support project deliverables in a fast-paced, dynamic R&D environment
- Learn and apply best practices in mechanical design, simulation, and precision instrumentation
- Stay engaged with emerging technologies and engineering tools relevant to mechanical product development
3Minimum Qualifications(Experience / Education)
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering
- 0-3 years experience in mechanical design and product development
4Competencies // Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's)
- Foundational understanding of engineering principles including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for modeling and drawing creation
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and contribute to project goals in a fast-paced environment
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a hands-on engineering role
- Familiarity with mechanical drawing standards and basic manufacturing practices
- Exposure to ERP systems or engineering documentation workflows
- Interest in cross-disciplinary integration and systems-level thinking
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or academic project experience with mechanical design or prototyping
- Exposure to vacuum or cryogenic systems
- Experience with vibration analysis or mechanical simulation tools (e.g., FEA)
- Hands-on experience in a machine shop or fabrication environment
- Familiarity with scientific instrumentation or high-precision mechanical systems
