JOB SUMMARY

The Occupational Health Specialist is a North Slope-based, rotational position that reports directly to the AES Kuparuk HSET Manager and is predominantly Occupational Health in nature. Candidate must be able to work independently with minimal direction while providing support to the Health, Safety and Environmental Training (HSET) department. Must be detail oriented, able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES



  • Manage HSET department-specific database information, input data, and generate detailed reports to monitor and control safety concerns.
  • Maintain confidential information in both hard copy and electronic format.
  • Research, compile, and maintain Company and Client regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Perform Audiograms to include Baselines, Annuals, Transfers and 14 Hour Follow Ups as required (CAOCH Certification).
  • Respiratory Medical Clearances, Pulmonary Function Tests (NIOSH Spirometry Certification), assurance of HIPAA compliance, and respirator fit testing.
  • Create and manage testing schedules to ensure employees are compliant in personal protection programs as assigned.
  • Create and maintain OH testing equipment calibration schedules. Obtain quotes, arrange and track shipping status to/from outside vendors.
  • Review and maintain personnel commercial driver's license (CDL) qualification records. Verification in Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse FMCSA database.
  • Maintain basic understanding of Alaska Workers' Compensation Law.
  • Comply with Company and Client policies and procedures.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports, safety meeting minutes, and other documents as requested.
  • Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
  • Coordinate travel, billeting, and related logistics as required.
  • Mange personnel testing/training requirements and ensure that credit is given in VTA database. Assist personnel and managers with VTA questions, concerns or issues.
  • Other duties will be assigned to this position as needed.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE



  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.
  • A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.
  • The ability to work 80.5 - 84 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required. Flexibility to rotate schedules with alternate as needed.
  • At least two (2) years of experience as an Occupational Health Specialist is required.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access, and Outlook is required.



PREFERRED EXPERIENCE



  • Two (2) or more years of experience working as an Occupational Health Specialist in the Petrochemical or Oil and Gas industry, on the North Slope, and/or in a remote environment is preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet is free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have its own accommodation and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands and work environment requirements outlined below are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. A post-offer, pre-hire Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to ensure an employee's ability to safely meet job standards. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions. Candidates must be able to comply with the ASRC Energy Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy, successfully pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both urinalysis and hair testing, and meet the physical requirements of working in a remote location under arctic conditions. In addition, candidates will be required to pass a Fit-for-Duty Exam, complete a background check, and obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location. The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company's continued operational needs once training is completed.
