Responsibilities
Addictions Counselor - Performs ETOC/Substance Abuse assessments. Provides group and individual counseling. Participates in patient treatment planning and continuum of care. Provides patient and family education relative to substance abuse/psychiatric problems. Develops comprehensive patient discharge plans. Understands and considers age specific developmental issues in order to provide appropriate interpretation of assessments and needed interventions. Understands and considers basic growth and development needs specific to the age and population served. Conducts educational workshops as required. Serves as a liaison with self-help groups and EAP professionals. Maintains complete and accurate records of all services provided. Conducts ongoing assessments of chemical dependence services required by IOP treatment programs. *Bi-lingual counselors encouraged to apply* JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Bi-lingual certified counselors preferred. Qualifications EDUCATION: Master's degree strogly preferred EXPERIENCE: Experience in a psychiatric setting working with various populations required. Bi-lingual candidates encouraged to apply. Licensure/Certification: CADC either through IAODAPCA or ICRC Knowledge: Familiarity with Illinois Confidentiality Act and Illinois Mental Health Code. Good written and oral communication skills.
