The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Overview: The Lead Technologist will supervise and manage the daily operations of the blood bank department, including staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluation. Also, supervise core laboratory operations, including hematology, chemistry, and coagulation, ensuring timely and accurate test results. Scheduling Requirements:
Qualifications: Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
- Certification as Medical Technologist, MT or equivalent

Preferred:
- ASCP certification in Blood Banking preferred
- Preferably 5 years of experience in blood bank/transfusion medicine, including at least 2 years of lead experience
- Thorough understanding of transfusion medicine, blood banking, and regulatory requirements
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of hospital staff
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong computer skills and experience with laboratory information systems and blood bank software
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and manage the daily operations of the blood bank department, including staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluation,
- Supervise core laboratory operations including hematology, chemistry, and coagulation, ensuring timely and accurate test results,
- Develop and maintain staff schedules for various lab departments, ensuring adequate c Perform root cause analysis for any testing errors or non-conformities and implement corrective actions,
- Prepare for and participate in laboratory inspections and audits,
- Ensure all laboratory safety protocols are strictly adhered to,
- Annually evaluating and documenting the performance of all testing personnel competency assessment
- Coverage for all shifts, including weekends and holidays,
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate and complete records for all blood bank activities, including inventory control, testing, and transfusion
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate processing of blood samples and transfusions
- Monitor quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and effective use of blood products
- Participate in the selection, validation, and implementation of new blood bank technology and equipment
- Provide technical expertise and consultation to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals on transfusion-related issues
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data analysis to improve patient outcomes and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies, including AABB, FDA, and CAP
- Work with the laboratory director and other supervisors to develop and manage the laboratory s budget and resource allocation,
- Participate in the hiring process for new staff and conduct performance evaluations,
- Serve as a liaison between laboratory staff and hospital administration, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise,
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements in blood bank and core lab testing methodologies,
- Manage inventory of blood and blood products,
- Coordinate with medical staff for blood collection and distribution,
- Train and develop blood bank staff,
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate with various departments,
