Job Summary: The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for the analysis, design, and resolution of complex Tier 2/3 technical escalations within customer environments. This role will design, develop, and execute project implementations within their areas of technical expertise. Typical responsibilities for this role may include the deployment of switches/routers/wireless (mostly HPE, Cisco, Arista) including dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), firewalls (FortiGate, Palo Alto and Cisco ASA/FTD) and cloud (Azure and AWS) networking. Job Duties:
- Leads the remote administration and troubleshooting of switches, routers, and firewalls from multiple vendors
- Routing protocols include Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
- Configures, installs, and manages multiple network security systems including next-gen UTM firewalls
- Performs cloud network engineering including VNet provisioning, gateway/NSG integration and WAN/VNet peering
- Monitors, diagnoses, and analyzes TCP/IP and associated protocols
- Deploys edge gateways, such as IDS/IPS, email filtering and web content filtering
- Serves as the technical lead and subject matter expert on projects, overseeing the work of others and being accountable for the outcome of client projects
- Triages and resolves escalations from within the Managed Services team within defined customer SLAs
- Leverages remote support tools to resolve support requests
- Communicates with clients in a highly professional and timely manner
- Provides occasional on-call 24/7 support after business hours 1 week every other month
- Performs on-site client support and project work occasionally
- Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent GED, required
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, or Computer Science, preferred
Experience:
- Six (6) or more years of experience managing, troubleshooting, configuring networks, required
- Four (4) or more years managing technical Tier 2 and 3 escalation issues and identifying solutions in a fast-paced environment, required
- Experience working in a consulting or managed services environment, preferred
License/Certification:
- Certification in FortiNet technologies, preferred
- Certification(s) in chosen technology area (AWS/Azure Associate or higher, CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+), preferred
Software:
- Cisco iOS / NX-OS, required
- Aruba OS, preferred
- FortiOS, preferred
- Azure/AWS portals, preferred
- Complimentary experience with Microsoft Windows systems and other network adjacent systems (voip, SAN, Hypervisors, etc), preferred
Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of network protocols, configurations, and operations
- Excellent communication skills, professionalism, positive attitude, and desire to learn
- Prior experience with ticketing systems and service desk management tools (i.e. Remedy, ServiceNow, ConnectWise, Autotask, N-central, Kaseya, etc.)
- Ability to travel locally to client sites, as needed
- Problem solving skills, with the ability to identify solutions for hardware, software, and network issues
