Tank Fabrication Inspector

Job Summary

The Tank Fabrication Inspector ensures that all forming and welding activities are performed safely, accurately, and in full compliance with design and quality standards. This role supports test and inspection functions and assists the Quality Supervisor in maintaining high-quality production standards. The Inspector collaborates with Quality Assurance, Production, and Engineering teams to verify product integrity, identify defects, and ensure adherence to all safety and compliance requirements.

Job Responsibilities




  • Perform inspections on formed and welded components to verify compliance with design and quality specifications



  • Inspect welds for conformity to standards, including checks for corrosion, cracks, porosity, leaks, and deformation



  • Review and approve welding procedures and ensure adherence to safety and quality protocols



  • Verify the proper alignment, fit, and fastener security of welded and assembled parts



  • Accept or reject materials, components, or equipment based on inspection results



  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering documents to ensure accurate inspection and documentation



  • Evaluate forming deviations and overall product performance



  • Maintain detailed records and documentation of all inspections and findings



  • Audit and manage deviation requests; approve and maintain deviation logs as directed by the Quality Supervisor



  • Support the Quality Supervisor in daily department operations, including decision-making on quality issues and go/no-go assessments



  • Ensure compliance with all company and regulatory safety standards



  • Collaborate effectively with welders, supervisors, and cross-departmental personnel




Job Requirements




  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution required



  • Education in AC/DC fundamentals and/or a minimum of one (1) year of experience in electricity, welding, or steel forming



  • Proficiency in using measurement tools and gauges for inspection



  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel



  • Strong attention to detail, ethical integrity, and mental acuity



  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with team members across departments



  • Ability to make sound quality judgments and document results accurately



  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • On-site position requiring adherence to all safety and quality control procedures



  • May involve exposure to manufacturing environments, welding equipment, and metal fabrication processes



  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required in designated work areas
