POSITION SPECIFICS

The Academic Advising Manager (Director of Student Success) leads the strategic development and delivery of programs that support the academic and professional success of nearly 6,000 undergraduate students in the Smeal College of Business. This role is responsible for leading and managing a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, including administering scholarship awards, coordinating the FIRST@Smeal Program, as well as the Business First-Year Seminar, guiding major exploration programs, and supporting other strategic efforts that promote student success in a top-ranked business school.

Key responsibilities include supervising staff, conducting performance evaluations, delivering constructive feedback, and supporting ongoing professional development. The Director provides leadership and strategic direction to a team of advisers and program specialists

Other duties include comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate students and maintains confidential records of all advising interactions, assesses student needs and makes professional referrals and serves as a resource for academic advisers and students. Additionally, the Director meets with prospective students and families and participates in various college programs such as Accepted Student Events, New Student Orientation, Spend A Summer Day, and other programs as assigned. This position requires interaction with students, parents, faculty, and various college staff members and may require occasional weekend and evening hours.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in academic advising with a proven track record and commitment to serving diverse student populations. Competencies critical to success include excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong attention to detail; commitment to honor and integrity; sensitivity to the needs of others; ability to work independently and as part of a team; effective knowledge of computer applications, and efficiently manage time, balance multiple responsibilities, and adapt to change.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Master's Degree 8+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $61,800.00 - $89,600.00.
