Summary:

The Medical Assistant supports the clinical operations of the FLETC Health Unit by performing administrative and clinical tasks under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers. This role ensures efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and timely support for trainees and staff receiving medical services.

There will be one Medical Assistant assigned to each FLETC site: Artesia, Charleston, and Glynco.


Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with patient intake, including recording vital signs, medical history, and reason for visit
  • Support licensed providers during examinations and procedures
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by supervising clinicians
  • Maintain and stock medical supplies, including medications - Prescriptions for Common Ailments
  • Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment
  • Schedule appointments and manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA and FLETC documentation standards
  • Assist with documentation related to work-related injuries and illnesses, including TAIRS and eComp forms
  • Provide basic health education and instructions to patients as directed
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in clinical procedures and medical terminology
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and federal documentation systems

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred
  • Minimum one (1) year healthcare field experience, including urgent care, within the last three (3) years.
  • Must have a Public Trust clearance
