VersaTech is currently looking for a Lead Cyber Security Assessor. The successful Lead Cyber Security Assessor has previous experience with evaluating a network's security software, operating systems, hardware, and the overall security protocols associated with it. The successful candidate will ensure that requests for security authorization of computer systems are completed in accordance with the published procedures and communicate with multiple levels of IT and business staff. Salary: $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead Assessment Engagements: Plan, coordinate, and oversee end-to-end cyber security assessments for federal and commercial clients.
  • Team Management: Assign tasks, mentor team members, review deliverables, and ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Security Control Assessment (SCA): Conduct detailed evaluations of security controls per CA-2 and related RMF steps, identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance gaps.
  • Technical Analysis: Evaluate system security plans (SSPs), security assessment plans (SAPs), and security assessment reports (SARs) for completeness and accuracy.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Serve as the primary point of contact with system owners, ISSOs, AOs, and other stakeholders throughout the assessment lifecycle.
  • Risk & Gap Analysis: Identify deficiencies, recommend mitigations, and track remediation activities to closure.
  • Documentation: Produce high-quality, compliant deliverables including SAPs, SARs, POA&Ms, and executive summaries.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend process enhancements for assessment methodologies, tools, and reporting standards.
  • Compliance Expertise: Ensure assessments are aligned with applicable standards including NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP, DoD RMF, and agency-specific requirements.


Required Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience in relevant areas.
  • 5+ years of experience in network, host, data, and/or application security across multiple operating systems.
  • Strong understanding of NIST and FISMA guidelines and security controls/control families (Rev 4 and 5)
  • Familiarity with change control, change management, project management, enterprise architecture frameworks, SDLC, and security policies.
  • Knowledge of the OSI model, key security capabilities, and analysis of new or existing security solutions.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent additional experience).


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Active security clearance (Secret, Top Secret, or higher).
  • Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CAP, CISA, or similar.
  • Experience with FedRAMP assessments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Nessus, Splunk, ACAS, or similar.

Pay Range: $135,000 - $155,000 per hour
