Job Summary: The Communications Technician II leads small teams of cable installers, ensuring quality and safety standards are met. This role involves hands-on installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of voice and data cabling systems.
Key Responsibilities: * Install and terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, faceplates, and surface mount boxes. * Build and maintain telecom closets: racks, patch panels, fiber optics, grounding. * Perform cable testing and troubleshooting using volt-ohmmeters and tone sets. * Identify active voice/data circuits and ensure proper labeling. * Lead and train installation crews, manage timelines, and ensure project completion. * Accurately complete all required documentation (timesheets, work orders, etc.). * Adhere to safety and quality standards across all tasks. Requirements: Skills & Abilities: * Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. * Ability to read, write, and present effectively. * Capable of working at heights, in confined spaces, and lifting up to 75 lbs. * Color vision and auditory recognition (e.g., dial tones) are required. * Willingness to travel within the assigned territory. Physical Demands: * Regular attendance is mandatory. * Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs and able to handle tools and equipment. Tools Required: * Basic hand tools: screwdriver, tape measure, snips, pliers, hammer, etc. * Specialized tools: punch tool (110/66 block), tone set, crimp tool. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $34.00/hr.
