Position Summary:

Manage and lead the process of scoping and execution of all Capital Projects for the Hannaford Brand, encompassing five states and over 180 stores. Work across the functional areas of both Hannaford and Retail Business Services (RBS), including but not limited to, Retail Operations, Retail Services, Category, Merchandising and Pricing (CMP), Strategy, Marketing, eCommerce, Finance, Safety, Construction, Maintenance, etc., to ensure the proper management and completion of Capital projects. Independently provide approval for projects up to one hundred thousand dollars, with annual budgets ranging upwards of up to one hundred and thirty million. Act as single point of contact for all Hannaford business leaders on the planning and execution of all Capital projects. Lead the remodel process with the collaboration of multiple areas including, but not limited to, Construction, Store Planning, and Finance to set timing and manage and lead the project completion process. Work with Hannaford business leaders to ensure business owners understand the scope guidelines and requirements for Capital projects. Ensure full completion of projects is achieved and deadlines set at the beginning of the project are met, provide essential communication and connection between all involved areas, and secure strategic and tactical alignment. Predict and plan for any impacts to Retail Operations throughout all Capital projects and make certain all business partners are informed, and concerns are addressed. Responsible for managing the request process with business partners to prioritize items that ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness is achieved. Support Capital Development team, construction, and the Hannaford leadership team on all other areas of need, such as Non-Construction Capital Projects, as requested.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading the collective efforts of Retail Ops, Marketing, Merchandising and RBS entities in the successful planning, executing, and opening of all new stores.
  • Authorized to approve all Capital requests, up to one hundred thousand dollars each, with each project budget ranging up to eight million with an overall organization capital budget of up to one hundred and thirty million.
  • Leads the process and works directly with business leaders from functional areas across Hannaford, including but not limited to, Retail Operations (Eastern and Western division), Retail Services, Category, Merchandising and Pricing (CMP), Strategy, Marketing, eCommerce, Store Planning, and Safety, to plan, execute and complete Capital projects.
  • Direct point of contact for Hannaford business partners to navigate the Capital process, execute projects, address concerns, and ensure proper completion.
  • Lead the process and work with multiple functional areas including, but not limited to, Construction, Store Planning, Maintenance, Purchasing, to ensure proper planning and execution of all Capital projects.
  • Oversee and ensure collaboration with larger Capital Development department, along with Construction, Strategy and Finance to ensure proper alignment of priorities, to maximize efficiency and cost savings for the customer, and create a cohesive voice to all business partners.
  • Provide robust and frequent communication to all business partners and leadership.
  • Manage the process and overall collaboration with functional area Directors/VP's to set prioritization, problem solve, direct project flow, and ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with Retail Operations leadership, Hannaford Owner Rep, and General Contractor on any decisions that will impact Capital projects. Manage for alignment across all impacted areas on any changes in scope and sequence of projects.
  • Lead and maintain an atmosphere of positivity, strong team collaboration and cohesion with a focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Develop robust relationships across all business partners built on trust and performance and maintain strong business partnerships with all Hannaford Owner Representatives and General Contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations, company policies, and standard practices.
  • Responsible for providing necessary guidance and collaboration to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of all Capital projects, and Retail Project needs, to aid in the development of Hannaford customer loyalty, growth of profitable sales, and to maximize the satisfaction of associates, customers, and shareholders through the duration and upon completion of all projects.
  • Travel to all project locations and monitor project progression and performance regularly (often weekly) and follow up on any opportunities or concerns. This includes frequent overnight travel.
  • Provide continuous improvement feedback for future development.
  • Supports with overseeing NCCP projects as needed, this includes but not limited to planning, communicating, and overseeing all aspects of the project to ensure business needs are met.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Retail Management, Project Management and/or Capital/Construction Planning
  • 3-5 years of high-volume store management experience, preferred
  • Strong ability to achieve desired results with or without direct authority (proven ability to influence without authority)
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with multiple areas and levels of the organization
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to lead others through rapid change and uncertainty
  • Strong strategic, cognitive and analytical skills, including creative and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to distill complicated inputs and requests into actionable recommendations, guidance and conclusions

The Salary Range for this Position is $108,880 - $163,320
