POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager oversees all aspects of the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of payments to vendors and suppliers. This role is responsible for managing the AP team, maintaining relationships with vendors, and ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. The Accounts Payable Manager will also drive process improvements, optimize cash flow through effective payment strategies, and support month-end close activities related to AP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Oversee daily AP operations, including invoice verification, approval, and payment processing.
  • Ensure all vendor invoices are processed accurately, coded to the correct accounts, and paid within terms.
  • Monitor the accounts payable aging report to avoid overdue payments and maintain good vendor relationships.
  • Ensure timely data entry and payment to take advantage of every early payment discount offered.
  • Act as the main point of contact for vendors regarding payment status and issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Manages and Directs work of functional team, including hiring, corrective action, performance appraisals and pay review, budget and processes.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a large team, manage performance, and foster a collaborative and productive work environment in accordance to Wurth basic principles.
  • Implement training programs to ensure staff are equipped with necessary skills and knowledge, including new employee onboarding.
  • Manage workforce planning, staffing, and labor relations to meet operational requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor the AP team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Provide training to the team on AP processes, system updates, and best practices.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to support employee growth and development.
  • Participate in the monthly reconciliation of AP accounts and year end closing procedures, as requested.
  • Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure AP transactions align with financial reporting requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline AP workflows and increase efficiency.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies or AP automation tools to enhance the department's productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with AP policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with internal control policies and audit requirements.
  • Prepare and analyze AP reports, such as aging reports, payment forecasts, and metrics for management.
  • Monitor and manage the timing of payments to optimize cash flow.
  • Establish effective payment schedules to balance vendor relationships and the company's cash requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounts payable or accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of AP processes, financial controls, and GAAP.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with AP automation systems or process improvement projects.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to vendor payments, 1099s, and tax compliance.
