About the Team:

Like every team at OpenAI, the Marketing team contributes to our broader mission of ensuring responsible and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence.
We are responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and usage for OpenAI's products and platform amongst our core audiences.

We take a data-driven approach to understand our customers' needs and challenges, ensuring that their voices are reflected in product development and messaging. We partner closely with product, engineering, developer relations, comms, and sales teams to create a cohesive customer experience across all our channels. Our focus extends beyond just promoting product features; we aim to provide valuable insights and resources that help our users make the most out of AI technologies.

About the Role

As part of the Startup Marketing team at OpenAI, you'll play a pivotal role in supporting Build Hours, OpenAI's flagship hands-on developer series, and work closely with product and events teams to design and execute hackathons that inspire new use cases for OpenAI's flagship models.

This is a full-time contractor role based in San Francisco, with an expectation of being in the office three days per week to collaborate closely with the team.

What You'll Do
  • Execute Build Hour content planning and distribution: Build Hours are OpenAI's premier live coding and workshop series, ensuring developers at all skill levels get hands-on experience.

  • Support scaled startup field events: Help execute Founders Table dinner series, founder meetups, and Builder Labs for builders to connect with our team globally.

  • Plan and execute hackathons: Work closely with Developer Experience and Product teams to host hackathons, surfacing innovative use cases for OpenAI's models.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams across OpenAI, including product, partnerships, and community.

Who You Are
  • 5+ years of experience working with technical builders, with a strong understanding of AI and developer ecosystems.

  • Proven ability to manage large-scale, developer-focused programs (workshops, hackathons, community initiatives, etc.).

  • Deep familiarity with the needs and motivations of developers, whether they're solo tinkerers or engineers at leading enterprises.

  • A natural community builder with excellent communication and storytelling skills.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving space with a bias toward action and experimentation.
