Position Summary
The UNM Student Financial Aid Office seeks a dynamic and creative professional interested in serving as the department's Technical Analyst 1. This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated professional to be an integral member of a progressive Student Financial Aid Office.
Reporting to the Sr. Business Analyst of Financial Aid, the Technical Analyst 1 will oversee the daily operations of updating and maintaining the systems used by the Student Financial Aid Office. The successful candidate will assist in identifying and implementing cost and time saving automated processes, and ensure the effective management, enhancement, and integration of financial aid and enrollment-related systems, including Ellucian Banner and OnBase. This role is responsible for the system updates, collaborates with internal teams to resolve technical and operational issues. Other key responsibilities include but is not limited to:
- Works with end users to identify business needs and to plan and design enhanced functionality of existing applications in use by Student Financial Aid Office. Develops and conducts user trainings and communications regarding changes, enhancements and updates to the various systems
- Assists with the review, analysis, and testing of system patches and provides analysis of implications of bundle installations; may work with other university staff to verify patch data prior to implementation
- Monitors data load errors and data integrity reports
- Development and management of other databases, websites, communications plans or ancillary systems in use to improve student customer service. Assists with other data and information management projects as needed
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success within a financial aid setting. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required. The successful candidate will have excellent technical, written, and presentation skills, competency for critically analyzing processes, and an understanding of the innovative uses of technology in a higher education setting (Banner experience is preferred). The candidate must also be highly organized, detail oriented, creative, energetic, able to work productively and effectively individually and within teams, be able to travel for work-related purposes as needed, and possess a strong commitment to superior customer service, and have an understanding of the importance of technology in financial aid.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree; at least 6 months of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and
institutional financial aid programs, regulations, and policies. - Strong technical skills and experience with a variety
of software solutions including the Ellucian Banner ERP system, AwardSpring, OnBase, and Microsoft products. - Strong analytic skills and data-informed decision
making. - Experience evaluating the technical needs student aid and
scholarship programs within a university setting.
