Aon is hiring a Protective Service Specialist based out of Chicago, IL, to Provide discrete executive protection to designated Aon executives in Chicago and on applicable business travel.

What the day will look like

You will manage the day-to-day operational activities within span of control, to include protective advances, emergency response, and crisis management across multiple locations, to include but not limited to:

  • Lead all aspects of travel planning, execution and logistics as well as coordination with numerous internal and external teams ranging from our executive office staff, corporate travel, and private aviation teams, third-party security firms, and security personnel at other firms and organizations.
  • Supporting executive activities related to Corporate Events. This includes maintaining relationships and communications with the Events and Corporate Security teams and reviewing events within responsibility to determine if events require executive protection support. You will be responsible for working with the security team and, at times, security vendors to ensure that security is provided as needed. Based on the event complexity and executive involvement, you will at times be required to aid during events and help oversee other resources in their provision of security.
  • Able to establish effective cross-collaboration with internal intelligence and investigations teams, global security operations center, in-network security vendors, and local law enforcement to proactively identify and mitigate threats.
  • Conduct protective intelligence assessments, advance planning, and ongoing OSINT reviews to identify vulnerabilities and develop proactive measures to mitigate potential threats.
  • Coordination with vital stakeholders to ensure the safe and secure transportation of executives, including pre-arrival reception planning and checking of all locations for planned events (client meetings, high-profile events, office meetings, as well as other locations) as requested by the executive committee.
  • Respond to emergencies and render aid in accordance with training, experience and expectations.
  • Participate in periodic training on pertinent security related skills and topics
  • Stay informed about emerging security technologies, trends, and best practices to continuously enhance security measures and adapt to changing threats.
  • Exercise sound independent judgment and an appropriate sense of urgency, as well as flexibility to shifting priorities and challenges.
  • May require vehicle transportation functions as necessary.

The Protective Service Specialist provides discreet executive protection for Aon executives in Chicago and during business travel, including managing transportation and coordinating with internal and external security teams. It requires leading travel logistics, supporting corporate events with security planning, conducting threat assessments, and collaborating with intelligence and law enforcement to mitigate risks. The position also demands emergency response readiness, ongoing security training, and promoting a culture of security awareness and responsibility.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
  • Prior experience in law enforcement, military, or security services is preferred.
  • Experience in the close protection of C-level executives in a corporate environment is strongly preferred.
  • A strong law enforcement and peer industry networks
  • Ability to articulate and outline risk findings, potential risk impacts, and mitigating actions with clarity and confidence.
  • Experience in conducting protective advances and completing site surveys to identify risk and plan a protective strategy accordingly.
  • Good physical fitness standards, and knowledge of realistic self-defense tactics is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to various work environments, and maintain a high level of situational awareness.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with utmost integrity.
  • EP Certificate and EP Driving Certificate or EVOC
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certificates (TCCC or EMT)
  • Ability for 20% travel, flexibility to travel (domestic and international) and work non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays when required.

Education: Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience in a private/public sector security environment.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $80,000 - $90,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
