Description

Washington College is one of the nation's leading liberal arts institutions located in the quaint historic town of Chestertown on Maryland's Eastern Shore. The Nurse Practitioner provides primary care and urgent care to college students and provides consultation and advice to students as a specialized practitioner in college health. As appropriate she/he consults with colleagues and collaborates with other members of our wellness and academic teams.

Essential duties:



  • Provides primary and urgent care to all full-time, matriculated students
  • Provides consultation and advice to students as a specialized practitioner in the field of college health
  • Close collaboration with colleagues in health, counseling, athletic training, disabilities services, student and academic affairs as needed to support the student experience, success and wellness
  • Ability to provide a non-judgmental environment to facilitate communication with students regarding sensitive health issues.
  • Ability to work in fast paced college health environment.
  • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Desire to work cooperatively as part of a service- based unit to support the mission of Washington College Wellness team.


Qualifications

Experience/Requirements:



  • Masters of Science NP or DNP in Nursing with current, unrestricted Maryland NP license
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Nurse Practitioner, prefer candidate with urgent care, ER or fast paced family practice experience
  • Board of Nursing and Pharmacy approved prescriptive authority in the state of Maryland with a valid DEA/CDS number
  • Proof of malpractice coverage
  • Current CPR, ACLS certification and completion of Hep B vaccination series or proof of immunity by titer required
