Summary:

The Director of Program Management, Strategic PMO serves as a key individual contributor within the Strategic Consulting & PMO team. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight across a matrixed project environment. The Director partners with functional leaders, project teams, and external resources to drive delivery of key initiatives aligned with the US organization's strategic priorities. This role leads the development and facilitation of high-level presentations, manages project and contractor budgets, and ensures effective stakeholder communication. Responsibilities include harmonizing project management processes, monitoring portfolio health, and contributing to strategic decision-making. By influencing cross-functional collaboration and alignment, the Director ensures project outcomes support the broader strategic goals of the organization.

Essential Functions:



  • Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of standardized project management methodologies, templates, and governance structures to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.
  • Oversees project risk identification and mitigation efforts. Develops scalable risk management frameworks and ensures consistent application of risk assessments and contingency planning throughout project lifecycles.
  • Serves as a senior advisor to project sponsors, facilitating alignment, decision-making, and change leadership.
  • Acts as the central communication conduit between project teams, leadership, and executive stakeholders. Ensures transparency through clear, consistent reporting on project progress, risks, issues, and key decisions.
  • Develops and deploys training programs and tools to elevate project management capabilities. Serves as a subject matter expert and mentor to project teams, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing.
  • Leads initiatives to evaluate PMO effectiveness, define KPIs, and implement improvements based on performance metrics, stakeholder feedback, and evolving business needs.



Required Education, Experience, and Skills:



  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree
  • 8+ years of professional experience
  • Minimum of 2 years within related field ((e.g., pharmaceutical, medical, healthcare)
  • Minimum of 4 years focused on project management (e.g., Project Manager and/or leading a PMO)
  • Experience leading and/or participating in cross-functional programs and projects
  • Able to develop strong relationships and influence individuals and teams, Lundbeck and third-party
  • Able to hold people accountable to meeting commitments and previously-made agreements
  • Able to drive decisions and actions related to them
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, namely Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Able to identify best practices and contribute to continuous improvement



Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:



  • Advanced degree, including MBA, MS, or Pharmacy degree
  • Experience working within similar function in a previous role
  • Experience in the development, assessment and maintenance of an organizations' business capabilities
  • Willingness/Ability to travel up to 20% domestically. International travel may be required.


The range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Illinois, if selected for this role, and may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. Salary Pay Range: $215,000 - $245,000 and eligibility for a 25% bonus target based on company and individual performance, and eligibility to participate in the company's long-term incentive plan.
