Job Summary The Associate Vice President provides strategic leadership for the College's fundraising, marketing, communications, and community relations efforts. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive development strategy that advances the College's mission and priorities. This position requires a deep passion for both fundraising and alumni relations, as these are central to the College's long-term success and impact. Key responsibilities include leading major gift and campaign initiatives, strengthening alumni engagement, and enhancing the College's presence in the community. The Associate Vice President also serves as a key representative of the College, working in alignment with the Maricopa County Community College District's overall development goals. Essential Functions 30% - Strategy and Leadership Support: Serves as a member of the president's senior leadership team by developing strategies, advising, and providing executive-level support to the college president and senior leaders on issues such as communication, marketing, fundraising, web presence, college reputation, crisis management, and public relations. Develops, manages, and implements strategies and plans related to advancement, marketing, and communications. 25% - Cultivating Donor Support: Fosters a culture of philanthropy and alumni engagement, ensuring fundraising efforts align with the College's goals. Leads the identification of key donors and works closely with the development team to establish strong, sustainable relationships with alumni and donors that leads to growth. Remains current and ensures compliance with district and governmental policies related to assigned areas of oversight. 15% - Communications: Provides strategic leadership and direction for the college's internal and external communications. Develops communication strategies, plans, and messaging for the college president and senior leaders. Ensures college communications align with the college's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. Prepares and recommends communications guidelines and procedures. 10% - Collaboration and Relationships: Serves on, collaborates with, and maintains effective relationships on college and district committees and councils critical to the strategic direction of the college. Develops and maintains liaison and effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and community partners and others as appropriate to strengthen college communications, marketing, and advancement efforts including alumni engagement and donor relations oversight and cultivation processes in order to maintain, develop, and grow donor base. 10% - Leadership and Supervision: Leads and administers the college's Institutional Advancement and Development offices; develops and guides the implementation of strategic plans, projects, and initiatives within Institutional Advancement and Development offices; develops and reviews budgets and expenditures; identifies resource needs; assesses outcomes and reviews accomplishments; uses data for continuous improvement; supervise, develop, evaluate, and inspire staff and work teams. 5% - Project Management: Directs and coordinates ad hoc initiatives and projects as requested by the president; oversees the recruitment, coordination and staffing of volunteer committees for solicitation projects. 5% - Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four (4) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two (2)years of supervisory experience. OR Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and six (6) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience. OR Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and eight (8) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience. OR High School Diploma/GED and ten (10) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two (2) years of supervisory experience. Desired Qualifications 1. Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in the design and implementation of complex development programs, emphasizing the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewarding of major philanthropic commitments from individuals, corporations, and foundations. 2. Knowledge of the full spectrum of development practices, principles and activities, including solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition administration, working with volunteer committees, and the demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge creatively to specific fund-raising projects. 3. Leadership experience at a community college at the Dean, Director, or higher level providing strategic direction and oversight related to marketing and communication functions. 4. Experience creating executive-level communications that reflect organizational mission, vision, and values, including crisis and politically-sensitive communications 5. Working knowledge of fund-raising software such as Raiser's Edge and customer relationship management systems such as Hubspot. 6. Supervisory experience including direction of personnel and working with volunteers.
