As the Sr FP&A Systems Consultant, you'll serve as a trusted expert in forecasting, database architecture, and data visualization. You'll be responsible for designing and implementing innovative solutions that support smarter financial planning across Southwest Airlines. You'll collaborate with FP&A, Technology, and Data Science Teams to build scalable systems and drive strategic innovation. As the senior point of contact for consultations, you'll guide individuals and business units in connecting to the right data and crafting compelling data stories that support Leaders in making critical decision-making. Responsibilities
- Proactively identifies innovative methodologies for producing FP&A deliverables, utilizing both inductive and deductive reasoning alongside sophisticated problem-solving techniques. Leverages quantitative skills to conduct comprehensive research, analyze data, synthesize findings, and formulate strategic recommendations.
- Develops and implements solutions by leveraging knowledge of finance and technology, while planning for contingencies.
- Leads development, optimization, and maintenance of complex forecasting models and analytic workflows, enhancing the accuracy, insights, and efficiency of financial planning and analysis.
- Lead effort to utilizes quantitative skills to address escalated issues, devise risk mitigation strategies, and formulate findings that inform actionable recommendations.
- Creates, enhances, and sustains reporting, analytic, and dashboard systems that facilitate better business understanding across FP&A and the organization, employing logical and concise data storytelling techniques.
- Evaluates and prioritizes opportunities across FP&A in collaboration with leadership, partnering to develop and implement actionable plans, lead project teams, and manage project execution.
- Exercises discretion to determine the most efficient and effective methods for delivering models to the business, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

- Manage escalated issues to realign stake holders and drive collaboration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of techniques and tools to create accurate financial models and perform detailed analyses
- Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, human resource modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and the coordination of personnel and resources
- Knowledge of data modeling processes to create algorithms and predictive models and perform custom analysis
- Knowledge of using technology architectures for developing and maintaining self-service reports, dashboards, and applications
- Knowledge of collecting, processing, and performing descript analysis on large datasets, discovering how the data can be used to answer questions
- Knowledge of financial markets, banking practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Skilled in interpreting new information to assess its implications for current and future problem-solving and decision-making
- Skilled in utilizing tools such as Business Objects, Tableau, and QlikView for data visualization and analysis
- Ability to extract data using SQL and employing data transformation tools like Alteryx
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of various solutions, conclusions, or approaches to challenges
- Ability to listen attentively, comprehend complex ideas, and articulate thoughts effectively in both written and spoken forms
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
- Expert level experience, expansive and far-reaching knowledge in:
- Building strong trust across teams and departments
- Project management
- Tools like Redshift, Alteryx, Tableau, Python, Teradata
- Financial model building and analytics
- Statistics and machine learning
- Database architect and building
Physical Abilities
- Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits
- Competitive market salary from $128,350 per year to $142,600 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
