Job Summary As an Intern on the Linux Team at Westfield, you will maintain and enhance our Linux environments and related technologies, including Red-Hat Linux Servers, Java application servers (Tomcat and WebSphere), F5 load balancers, Kubernetes Clusters (OpenShift), and more. Your responsibilities will span across the implementation of solutions, handling incident resolution, lifecycle event planning, and service request fulfillment. The internship will be 20-40 hours a week beginning in Fall 2025. Job Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining Red Hat Linux servers, including patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Support automation efforts using scripting and configuration tools.
- Participate in Kubernetes/OpenShift administration tasks such as deploying workloads and monitoring cluster health.
- Collaborate with the team to implement networking solutions involving DNS, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Document technical procedures and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
- Attend team meetings, share progress, and engage in cross-functional projects.
- Collaborates with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders to effectively communicate progress, challenges, and ideas, and actively participates in team meetings or discussions.
- Works on projects that provide opportunity to collaborate with other interns as well as associates in other departments, ranging from data analysis to mentors.
- Identifies and resolves issues or challenges that arise during the internship, demonstrating problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
- Demonstrates professionalism, punctuality, and a strong work ethic by being reliable, responsible, and maintaining a positive attitude towards assigned responsibilities.

Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and/or commensurate experience.
- Either actively enrolled in an academic institution in pursuit of a degree in a relevant course of study or is a recent college graduate, typically having attained a degree within the past 12 months.
- Applicants should possess hands-on Linux experience; installing and configuring distributions, administering systems over SSH, and automating tasks with Bash scripting, gained through personal projects or home labs.
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, including DNS, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to document technical procedures effectively.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full time basis without employer sponsorship.
