Position Overview:

As a Senior Software Engineer on the ETSU Collaborative Tools Platform - Infrastructure Team, you will design, develop, and maintain secure, high-availability software components to support enterprise tools, including the Atlassian Data Center Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Crowd) and other mission-critical platforms hosted in AWS GovCloud and Azure Government. You will ensure applications are cloud-optimized, scalable, and compliant with CJIS security standards, leveraging AWS services and CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid and reliable deployments. Working within a SAFe Agile framework, you will collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to deliver robust software solutions and provide training to enhance team capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develops, deploys, and maintains mission-critical enterprise applications throughout the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support
  • Develop and customize software components for the Atlassian Data Center Suite (e.g., plugins, integrations) to enhance functionality and support enterprise collaboration
  • Designs and implements cloud-based applications using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, and DynamoDB, ensuring scalability, security, and high availability
  • Builds and optimizes front-end applications using frameworks like React delivering responsive and user-friendly interfaces tailored to business needs
  • Manages version control, development workflows, and CI/CD pipelines using Atlassian tools like Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Jira to enable rapid, dependable deployments
  • Develop and integrate databases (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB) within application environments, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval for large-scale applications
  • Support Active Directory/LDAPS and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations (e.g., SAML, OAuth) to align with enterprise identity standards
  • Conduct unit and integration testing using frameworks like JUnit or pytest to ensure application quality, reliability, and security compliance
  • Perform ongoing application maintenance, monitoring system performance with tools like AWS CloudWatch or Splunk, responding to incidents, and implementing patches and security updates
  • Enforce cloud security best practices, including data encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA), IAM policies, and integration with AWS Security Hub, to ensure CJIS compliance
  • Applies Agile development principles within the SAFe framework, engaging in iterative development cycles, backlog prioritization, and adaptive planning
  • Conducts rigorous unit testing, integration testing, and automated deployment processes to ensure application quality, reliability, and security compliance
  • Performs ongoing application maintenance, including monitoring system performance, responding to incidents, and implementing patches and security updates
  • Develops and maintains databases within an application environment, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval for large-scale applications
  • Designs, customizes, and optimizes software solutions to enhance operational efficiency, integrating third-party components and automating maintenance tasks
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, participate in architecture reviews, and deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives
  • Provide team specific training as needed


Qualifications

  • United States citizenship and minimum active Secret Clearance required
  • Minimum 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, including designing and deploying cloud-based applications
  • Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe

The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $126,000.00.Actual compensation will depend on a range of factors, including but not limited to the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, certifications, location, other business and organizational needs, and applicable employment laws.
