Econometrica specializes in research, econometric, analytical, and technical support for our clients, with an emphasis on data science, data analytics, statistics, economic analyses, and program implementation and evaluation services.

The Opportunity

Econometrica is looking for a mid-level Economist/Economic Analyst with 1-5 years of experience conducting economic, regulatory impact, or benefit-cost analyses for public-sector clients. The analyst will support work for the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA).



Education & Qualifications

Skills and Experience:



  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Statistical and quantitative analysis skills.
  • Experience conducting regulatory analyses, benefit-cost analyses, or program evaluations.
  • Experience with the following is a plus:

    • Pipelines, hazardous materials, or transportation related analyses.
    • Data science (e.g., automated reasoning, text analysis, machine learning).
    • Sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, scenario analysis, what-if analysis, Monte Carlo analysis.
    • Data visualization.
    • Computational and reporting software such as STATA, Python, R, VBA, Power BI, Tableau.
    • GIS.


  • Ability to obtain a security clearance is a plus.



Education



  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Economics. Master's degree is a plus.

Work Environment

This position is located onsite at PHMSA's office in Washington, DC.
