The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture (
APLA) at Auburn University, a comprehensive land-grant and research institution, invites applications for the position of
Endpoint Support Analyst.
The School of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture (
APLA) has a 118-year history of educating architects, interior architects, landscape architects, and planners. The school contributes to the region and to the profession through the outreach, scholarship, and creative work of its students and employees.
APLA includes four allied disciplines: Architecture, Interior Architecture, Environmental Design, and Landscape Architecture, and it offers both bachelor's and master's degree options.
APLA resides in the College of Architecture, Design and Construction along with the School of Industrial and Graphic Design and the McWhorter School of Building Science.
APLA operates instruction and fabrication facilities in multiple locations. The primary location is in Dudley Hall, the facility is comprised of multi-use and multi-modal instructional spaces, 7 classrooms, 21 dedicated design studios and operates output hubs (2d and 3d printing), an immersive design and visualization lab and a wood shop and digital fabrication facility (cnc router and large format laser cutters). Secondary locations served by
APLA IT staff include Urban Studio, Rural Studio Campus, and the
CADC Research Commons. The IT team supports over 75 employees and over 800 students across these locations.
The school seeks candidates who are interested in supporting and advancing the school's tradition of classroom and field-based teaching and learning. Candidates should have a strong interest and experience in design-technology and an interest in design education and/or practice.
The successful candidate for this position will provide consultative and technical support services to
APLA constituents to ensure timely problem resolution, system/data access, and optimal system performance. Provides support for desktop, mobile computing, and client/server technology. Provides consulting on more involved and difficult technology solutions such as evaluating software packages for multiple departments and recommending the best application for the intended purpose or helping departments develop and implement a computer hardware life cycle replacement strategy. Additionally, the candidate will provide support for output devices within the school including 2d and 3d printing and laser cutting as well as advanced visualization equipment such as lidar scanners and virtual reality hardware and software configurations. Interpersonal communication skills are critical in this position. |
Essential Functions |
- Provides high-quality customer service through courteous and professional communication. Supports and maintains effective relationships with consistent follow-up and documentation.
- Provides technical support to the University community to resolve moderately complex first- and second-tier desktop software, application, and communication issues in an efficient and timely manner. Thoroughly and accurately documents request history and routes advanced second- and third-tier requests to the appropriate technical personnel.
- Provides timely resolution of problem or escalation on behalf of the client by maintaining strong working relationships with IT professionals in other areas.
- Provides moderately complex consultation, support, and instruction for clients.
- Assists in the development of standard operating procedures and customer service guidelines. May assist with hardware and software evaluation or testing as part of the development of new initiatives being undertaken by supported constituent groups.
- Assists with the deployment of new applications, resources, and tools.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Bachelor's degree in no specific discipline and 3 years relevant IT experience in a service environment or university setting.
OR
Associate's degree in no specific discipline and 7 years relevant IT experience in a service environment of university setting.
OR
High School degree and 11 years of experience in a service environment of university setting.
Typical salaries are between $58,550 - $68,310 Full salary range $48,790 - $78,060
Substitution allowed for Education:
When a candidate has the required experience, but lacks the required education, they may normally apply additional relevant experience toward the education requirement, at a rate of two (2) years relevant experience per year of required education. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
- Understanding of the business environment of a large university system including a basic understanding of the University system, its policies, and its operating procedures.
- Knowledge of information technology concepts and terminology, desktop OS and supported software applications, network fundamentals, IP protocol, and fundamental troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues with voice communications.
- Knowledge of desktop ticketing systems.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with professional computer systems and office applications.
