How You'll Contribute:



The 2110 Broadcast Engineer is a senior-level, hands-on technical specialist responsible for maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting mission-critical broadcast systems in IP media environments using SMPTE ST 2110/AES67 alongside traditional SDI (3G/12G) workflows.


This role ensures 24/7 reliability and compliance for live production, playout, and multi-platform distribution. The position demands deep expertise in 2110 broadcast engineering, including PTP synchronization, multicast configuration, and NMOS workflows, as well as proven skills in broadcast maintenance and break/fix repairs.



What You'll Do:



2110 & IP Broadcast Systems Support



  • Operate, monitor, and maintain SMPTE ST 2110 systems, including AES67 audio and NMOS IS-04/IS-05 device registration/control.
  • Configure and troubleshoot multicast routing (IGMP/PIM), VLAN assignments, and QoS for IP broadcast networks.
  • Ensure PTP clock accuracy and stability for all IP media devices.
  • Use broadcast IP analysis tools (Telestream PRISM, Leader LV5600) to verify packet timing, jitter, and 2110 stream integrity.


Hybrid IP/Baseband Operations



  • Support and maintain SDI (3G/12G) workflows, frame syncs, up/down/cross converters, DAs, and multiviewers.
  • Manage routing switchers (Evertz, Ross Ultrix, Grass Valley) in hybrid IP/baseband environments.
  • Perform QC on outbound feeds for OTA, cable, OTT, and streaming platforms.


Broadcast Maintenance & Break/Fix



  • Perform preventative maintenance on 2110 broadcast gear, SDI equipment, IP gateways, and encoders/decoders.
  • Diagnose and repair failed broadcast hardware, including component-level replacements (cards, power supplies, fans, boards).
  • Maintain up-to-date firmware/software and apply vendor patches to ensure stability and security.
  • Support facility maintenance: patch bays, fiber splicing, BNC terminations, rack installations, UPS and generator integration.



Technical Skills & Tools



  • IP Media Transport: SMPTE ST 2110, AES67, PTP (IEEE 1588), NMOS protocols, multicast networking.
  • Baseband Video/Audio: SDI (3G/12G), signal routing, frame syncs, conversion, multiviewers.
  • Routing & Control: Evertz Magnum, Ross Ultrix, Grass Valley NVISION, Lawo VSM.
  • Monitoring & QC: Telestream PRISM, Leader LV5600, Tektronix WFM, Sencore.
  • Transmission Systems: Satellite uplink/downlink, IP contribution/distribution, Adtec, Ateme, MediaKind.
  • Facility Support: Cable terminations, fiber management, rack/cable organization, redundancy systems.



Work Schedule & Requirements



  • Core Hours: Monday-Friday with flexibility for early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed.
  • On-Call: Available for rapid response to critical outages.



What You'll Bring:


Education & Certifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electrical Engineering, IT Networking, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: SMPTE ST 2110 Professional, SBE CBRE/CBTE, Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Dante Level 3.



Required Skills/Qualifications:




  • 7+ years in broadcast engineering, with direct SMPTE ST 2110 operations experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for both IP broadcast and baseband SDI infrastructures.
  • Proficiency in network configuration for media over IP, including VLANs, multicast routing, and PTP sync troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on broadcast break/fix repair and preventative maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with FCC, ATSC, AES, and SMPTE compliance requirements.
