Job Description

Georgia-Pacific is seeking a contribution motivated Process Engineer for Leaf River Cellulose mill in New Augusta, MS. This position will be part of the Optimization Team. The primary focus will be providing guidance, technical expertise, and proactive process optimization.

Our Facility

Leaf River Cellulose Mill is a world-class wood pulp mill in the Georgia-Pacific's Cellulose business. Leaf River produces specialty and market fluff pulp that is delivered worldwide to customers for a variety of high end uses and converting technologies. Our products are used in applications ranging from paper products to diapers and hygiene products, to specialty applications including textiles, pharmaceuticals, food, paints, and plastic molding components.

Role Description

  • Monitor and analyze process data to identify opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop, improve, and implement optimized processes to improve quality, reduce costs, streamline processes.
  • Proactively identify process developments and designs to improve capability and presentation of these opportunities.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify areas for improvement and provide process technical support.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process flows.
  • Provide technical expertise to projects to ensure processes are designed for high-quality and efficient production.
  • Be the technical owner on process deliverables: process simulations, design calculations, chemical applications, etc.
  • Develop training for production teams to ensure consistency and quality in manufacturing processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or process related discipline
  • Self-directed learning, leading, and directing others.
  • Contribution motivated individual
  • Experience identifying opportunities and implementing solutions.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experienced knowledge in pulp and paper industry.
  • Experience in planning, coordinating, and executing chemical trials.
  • Ability to digest, retain, and communicate technical concepts concisely and effectively.
