Position Title: Research Technician

Work Location: North Chicago, Illinois, USA 60064

Assignment Duration: 06 Months

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, with expectations to work on weekends and some holidays

Position Summary:

A research technician position is available at Genomic Research Center (GRC). We are looking for a highly motivated research technician to work independently and in collaboration with other scientists in projects involving human induced pluripotent stem cells reprogramming, cell differentiation, CRISPR editing, and high throughput functional screenings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine wet lab experimental protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain cultured stem cells and stem cell-derived cells.
  • Keep an accurate record of experimental setup, SOP protocols, and data quality control notes.
  • Maintain efficient and continuous communication with team members and managers.
  • Support team members with basic routine cell culture procedures including media preparation and reagents aliquoting.


Qualification & Experience:

  • Significant cell culture expertise: maintenance, freezing, thawing, and passaging.
  • Biochemistry such as: Western blot, Immunofluorescence, flow cytometry.
  • Molecular biology such as: RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, RT-qPCR.
  • Gene editing using CRISPR technology.
  • Lentivirus production and lentiviral transduction.
  • BS degree or master's degree in biological sciences, molecular biology, neuroscience, or biochemistry and significant 2-3 years tissue culture experience are a must. (Or a master's degree with at least one year of experience).
  • Already trained in proper wet lab procedures and familiar with using basic lab equipment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience in stem reprogramming, maintenance, and differentiation is highly preferred.

The candidate will be involved in a highly enthusiastic, motivated, supportive, and diverse team. The candidate will be involved in multidisciplinary projects across different teams in GRC and is expected to work independently and support the team.
