Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance is required by hospital policy. Must pass a motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and must maintain qualification of insurance guidelines. Schedule: Monday to Friday - 7 AM to 5 PM.
Aids pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of patient medications, sterile products, TPNs, sterile hazardous medications, and supplies in the home infusion pharmacy. Ensures and coordinates the delivery of these medications to patient homes. Pharmacy Technician II demonstrates competency and troubleshooting on pharmacy technologies.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of and compliance with USP 797, and
800 standards, and other regulatory requirements, which allow safe and accurate preparation and/or compounding of patient specific medications (IV and injectable), including reconstitution when applicable. This includes completing daily, weekly, and monthly documentation of completed tasks in designated record keeping systems (Continuously) - Cleans and maintains clean room, I.V. preparation area, and pharmacy
equipment in accordance with NCH policies and procedures, FDA, JC standards, USP 797 & 800 Guidelines and OSHA requirements. (Continuously) - Participates in annual and quarterly inventories and reconciliation. (Occasionally)
- Picks and Packs drugs and supplies necessary to provide infusion therapy in the home . (Continuously)
- Appropriately and accurately coordinates home prescription delivery which
includes delivery receipt process and documentation. (Continuously) - Aids homecare pharmacy department in completing required audits and other
compliance needs necessary for department operations (Occasionally) - Replenishes pharmacy stock area and notifies pharmacist or inventory
coordinators of any problems or concerns. (Continuously) - Assists in orientation and training for new Homecare Pharmacy Technicians.
Ensures that the trainees are competent to function in the homecare pharmacy area. (Frequently) - Rotating pharmacy technician on-call responsibility (Continuously)
Education Requirement:
- As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.
Licensure Requirement: Registered with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Registered Technician, required. Certifications: Certification by examination as a pharmacy technician (CPhT, ExCPT), required. Skills:
- Must demonstrate ongoing homecare pharmacy infusion technician competencies, knowledge, and skills
- Detail-oriented, patient-centered, demonstrates strong moral character, and aligns with core values.
Experience:
- 1 year of experience in Home Infusion, sterile compounding environment or hospital environment, recommended but not required.
- 1 year of experience at NCH, preferred.
