Level 1: Estimated annual base pay: $64,080 (minimum) $80,100 (midpoint) $96,120 (max)

Level 2: Estimated annual base pay:$90,560(minimum) $113,200 (midpoint) $135,840 (max)

Are you Ready to Make your Mark? Are you a Quality Engineer looking for your next career opportunity? This position reports directly to the Quality leader and is responsible for providing a moderate to high level of customer and organizational support for quality & regulatory requirements, compliance, and system and process improvements. support and mentoring to the other quality engineers. This positionrequires minimal supervision with a high level of independent work.Drives the use of Six Sigma principles, methods and tools.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Accountable for ensuring the robustness of root cause analysis and problem solving utilizing Six Sigma methodology and Woodward Quality Management System processes.
  • Drives continuous improvement across the operation (i.e. defines improvement goals, establishes accountability through SQDRC metrics, uses Lean/Six Sigma tools and techniques to continually improve processes and business results, and establishes a mindset within operations to document and control processes; promotes safety and housekeeping; uses facilitative leadership).
  • Acts as the customer liaison/advocate for Woodward compliance to customer quality requirements and customer satisfaction relative to quality of products and services.
  • May be accountable for customer accounts, along with resolving complex issues. Drives resolution to systemic issues within the organization.
  • Performs quality related activities associated with the nonconforming material control process.
  • Develops procedures and work instructions that are required per the Quality Management System.Manages the review and approval of QMS documents.
  • Assembles and monitors appropriate company/customer metrics andproposes improvements for the performance of Quality. May analyze the metrics and provide recommendations based on the results.
  • Leads advance quality planning processes. Examples include Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)/First Article Inspection (FAI), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) processes. (May be performed by CQE at some sites.)
  • Ensures accuracy of documents and interfaces with customer for required validation documentation to customer quality requirements such as APQP, PPAP, ISIR, etc.
  • Leads internal/external audits. Provides mentoring to functional owners for RCCA on findings
  • Monitors and reports on company/customer score cards. Leads action, as appropriate.
  • Monitors and drives improvements to company/customer quality metrics throughout Woodward.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Participates in setting technical direction/quality strategies.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement throughout the organization, and pursues corrective action.
  • Drives/coaches/encourages the use of Continuous Improvement principles, methods and tools.
  • May be required to support other Woodward plants/divisions

  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of and ability to drive Root Cause Corrective Action concepts/processes, including the 8D process to eliminate cause(s) in internal processes, or external processes when necessary.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills (including presentations). Writes standard technical reports. Able to manage multiple tasks with varying priorities in a fast paced work environment.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively lead teams across multiple functional areas, and work with various levels within the organization, customers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to complete company goal/tasks in a timely manner, and at times, work under aggressive schedules.
  • Demonstrates thoroughunderstandingof interpretation ofengineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and/or electrical schematics, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 and TS16949 (site specific) requirements and their intent to ensure compliance of the Quality Management System. Demonstrates ability to capture important data, analyze data and report appropriate conclusions: able to identify and address the critical few from the trivial many.
  • Has a solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.(Site specific examples- FAA, EASA, JCAB, CAAC, etc.)
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge and the utilization ofSix Sigma principles, tools and methodology. Leads Six Sigma principles throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of the Woodward PLC process and demonstrated utilization of the quality planning tools (APQP).
  • Demonstrates a strong knowledge of APQP, the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and/or First Article Inspection (FAI) processes. Demonstrates a strong knowledge of process capability concepts, including but not limited to Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of non-conforming material control and material disposition processes.
  • Ability to drive and implement activities to meet customer quality expectations. Ability to identify and execute quality/customer focus strategy for customer accounts. Builds relationships at various levels/functions within the customer.

Level 1:

  • Associate's degree
  • Prior experience in quality, engineering, machine shop, assembly or functional testing related experience is preferred.
  • Prior experience in Quality Management Systems experience (document management, internal and/or external audits, nonconforming material control, and root cause and corrective action processes), preferred.
  • Demonstrates solid computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point.Knowledge of MS Project and Visio a plus.

License & Certifications:

  • Lead auditor certification-preferred
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certified (or equivalent CI/RCCA certification)-preferred

Level 2:

  • UNITED STATES\US - Bachelor's Degree in Sciences (BS)
  • Minimum 5 years of quality, engineering, machine shop, assembly or functional testing experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Management Systems experience, including experience related to document management, internal and/or external audits, nonconforming material control, and root cause and corrective action processes, is required.
  • Demonstrates strong computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Knowledge of MS Project and Visio a plus.

License & Certifications:

  • Lead auditor certification-preferred
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certified (or equivalent CI/RCCA certification)-preferred
